Well if you’re KKFI 90.1 fm Community Radio with absolutely NO corporate funding and exist by the grace of funds tossed your way by the people who LISTEN to your 100,000 watts, then you auction off gracious local bands for live entertainment, guest dj spots, and all sorts of curious items your listeners, independent musicians and volunteers donate. Welcome to the world of free enterprise without corporate handouts, wall street bs, bank loans or government tax dollars. Now as an ardent listener of KKFI’s music, news, theatre, and talk shows this is how I’m doing my small part to support Community Radio as it OUGHT to be Heard. So, if you’re in the KC metro area and wanting a live band for entertainment, heads up and ears open. If you’re a dj wanna be, then pay attention–cause you don’t have to be local to play this guest dj gig. Oh no. People from as distant as east coast Connecticut have booked air time on KKFI-and served up some great tunes. If you’re just addicted to shopping then the online auction might feed your vice just right.
Curious? For more information about KKFI and/or its program schedule you can click the logo on my blogcasa’s sidebar for direct access or visit www.kkfi.org via your browser. Where else will an Artie play hours and hours of music from Woodstock? Where else will you find The Grateful Dead for a full hour every Friday night? Where else will a radio station feature a showcase of local talent live on the air for an hour every Thursday? Where else will your ears find over 12 hours of THE BLUES every week? Get your BLUES fix with the one and only Luscious Lynn’s Beautician Blues Show; hardcore Lady D’s Mother’s Mix; Katnip & Stray Cat’s Voodoo Kittens Road Trippin Blues; Larry J’s Soul on My Place; sexy husky voiced Wendy’s Edged In Blue; Whitehat Mike’s Musical Picks, Junebug and Chuck Pisano’s always cookin’ Blues Kitchen, and more Monday through Saturday. Here’s an aside from the heat and the insanity of world events. A music break with a VOICE. The incomparable, Joan Osborne delievers the heart and soul goods. If you haven’t found her voice then listen for what you like. If you know The Joan then just click and enjoy whatever trips your music traps.
