It’s Tar Sands time, folks. Seriously: Demand NO KEYSTONE PIPELINE and I do mean DEMAND the “NO” from Obama.

Oh, yes, I’m “back” motivated by the ongoing protests in front of the White House to protest the insane Keystone Pipeline. Obama has the power to put an END to this oil greed driven piece of environmental disaster. Will the man of “hope and change” pay any attention from his vacation spot on Martha’s Vineyard? Cynically I have BIG DOUBTS that he’ll do the right thing and just say NO to Big Oil. BUT–in solidarity with all the people willing to get arrested to make a point about this very very very BAD pipeline to devour the Tar Sands oil and ship it to—TEXAS from Canada–I’m speaking out and spreading the word as best I can. No wonder some friends are NOT responding to my emails. LOL. Hey, I understand, who wants to wrap their heads around yet ANOTHER Oil Disaster? Considering the ongoing mess of BP killing the Gulf of Mexico I expect intelligent, caring people to be a tad shell-shocked by what Big Oil does in the name of GREED.  Exxon posted the largest profits in the history of our sort of profits in history. THEY don’t need more money. WE all NEED a clean EARTH.  Okay, no photos. No links. No pretty pictures. Just words. I can’t be in DC to join the protests. If I could, I would. Why? Because this is IMPORTANT! Really, really important. Amy Goodman and Keith Olbermann interviewed Bill Mckibben of 350.org (Btw, we’ve gotten to 390 and that’s NOT a good thing.) finally putting some  media focus on the protests that will continue for two weeks. Oh and there was an important piece in some important newspaper…AFTER coverage on Democracy Now! by Amy Goodman. If you haven’t figured out by now that we must transition to clean energy and save the Earth, I don’t know what I or anyone else can say to get your mind around the notion.  Frankly, considering the evolving mess on this planet, I sure wish I did NOT have children who will have to deal with the consequences of our actions–and inactions in the near future. Curious? Wondering what I’m whining about? Then get busy and google the hell out of  the Tar Sands, Keystone Pipeline, Canada, Oil Spill in Montana, Democracy Now! and whatever else gets your mental motors running. Knowledge is a powerful thing. Pay it forward.

Namaste

Big Business will never say ‘NO’ to Black Gold. Eva, money talks more than any voices raised in protest… But saying that voices raised loudly have to be heard in this democratic world of ours, and a careful watch on whats going on… Great post my friend, this Earth of ours needs many caretakers, as it appears our elected officials have to respond to the ‘Pied Piper’ of Greed…. Profit Margins…. as you so rightly say. Pay it Forward.. xPenx

Dear xPenx, O please do “pay it forward” by spreading the word. So many people have no idea what’s happening because there’s been so little coverage of this protest and the pipeline. Thank you for reading and sharing your thoughts. Will visit soon! Namaste!

I have been thinking around the trend why did i have a child but i know and he knows that i did everything to make a difference. It started with the Report of Rome that made a lot of people realise we need to stop and think, yet the people who had the ability to make a true difference (politic, business) never did.
Remember the big fight for the banning of CFCs chlorofluorocarbons to safe the Ozone layer in 1985 and it was finalise in 1996. In 2003 we got the news that the Ozone depletion is slowing down and in 2009 the Ozone layer started to recover. This time it will be a lot harder as we will be fighting against some very large companies with a hell of lot resources to hit us back. We need to down grade and loose the illusion of constant growth and more important the fairy tale that our life depends on oil or cheap energy. Some say we want them to go back to living in caves ha ha ha.
So far the ones who are living in caves are the big companies and certainly the oil companies YET one day that cave will collapse and they know it they just hope it will not happen in their lifetime. They truly ignore the fact they have children and even grandchildren.

mAgdA, you wonderful lover of the land, water and skies, what a great “cave” comment. Dark mental caves are the places we need NOT go to–and apparently many must escape. That collapse you speak of may come sooner than most people realize and then–well, it will be a huge reality check for those in denial.
So very good to hear from you!

Makes me sick to the stomach! What will they think of next to speed along the destruction of our planet. Thanks for spreading the word – I hadn’t heard of this until I read slpmartin’s poem ‘leave the damn sandhills alone’ http://slpmartin.wordpress.com/2011/08/25/leave-the-damn-sand-hills-alone/

Hi Gabrielle. Not many folks have heard because the maintream media is NOT reporting the protests or that so far 381 people have been arrested. They don’t want MORE concernced people protesting this week. So SPREAD the news! Because Obama CAN end this with one VETO. If he doesn’t then we’ve all got to work harder to save Earth.
