That picture shows the starkness. How double hard to be a woman.

Thank you for making so much historic materIal available, I am writing a family history for son-in-law Dewey Bad Warrior, and since I live in Massachusetts access to the archives is not easy. It will include descendants of Elk Head and Martha (Red Eagle) Bad warrior -The keeper of the Calf Pipe. The history will be placed in the Timber Lake, SD Museum. Dewey has some family records that have never been published.
I see at the 1922 Cherry Creek list you offer to post other families. If you have easy access to famlies in other districts I would appriciate seeing the families listed below who are relatives of Dewey Bad Warrior.
These names are not from an index, so they may not be in the areas that I have estimated..
*Near Eagle Butte Dewey Co. or Ziebach Co. near Dupree
Black Shield, Abraham
Borrows
Broken or Broken In
Claymore, George
Drops At A Distance
Good Bear
High Cat
Iron Lightning
Little Wounded
Marrowbone

Clown, Joe
*Green Grass or Eagle Butte

Larrabee, Richard & Nancy
Looking Horse

Two Run or Runs Twice, Ernest
*Bear Creek

Bad Warrior is my son-in-law’s family. Thrilled to see the picture and 1922 document. Albert Useful Heart may also be related; trying to determine if he is the right Useful Heart family. Do you have the file for his father Rufus Useful Heart? They lived together in 1935 when Rufus was 96.
Do you have the microfilm of the complete file?

Hello Larry Alley. Glad you found the picture and 1922 information. I do not have microfilm of anything. The picture and information are scans of the original documents available to the public at the National Archives Central Plains Branch in Kansas City, Missouri. At the time of the scans there was no microfilm avail of this 1922 file. This information is from Record Group 75 for the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation, 1922 Social Survey.
