Got kids? Love our planet? Dig Avatar?

Are you watching the Amazon? If you’re a parent then you probably want a great place for your children to live and grow in.   We’ve got one planet, Earth.  If you saw Avatar then you already know a great deal about the issues in the Amazon that the Achuar people are facing. They’re just one group of people on the frontlines of knowing what’s going on with our planet’s health.  Curious about the world in which we all live? Visit the Amazon and consider what’s at sake for all of us on Earth.

It’s April. It’s spring, the time of birth and rebirth. Let’s insure that Earth supports many many more springs with love and joy. Give all our children the gift of a healthy world to live in.

one war that must of us overlook.
    its a shame really.
we are the ones that can make a difference.
But only a few of us listen.

Hey Kokot. We all need to listen, learn and act effectively asap because we’ve only got ONE place to live. Now you’re ‘listening’ too.

Thanks for the reminder. It’s too bad a lot of people just close their eyes and try not to listen, when they know in their hearts what’s going on.

    I’ll check it out. 🙂

Camilla–yes, it is too bad many people aren’t taking these issues seriously. It’s time to cease being ignorant because otherwise the ability to act effectively could be lost very quickly.

Thanks for the link and the reminder. I hope one day we can learn to take care of this planet we all call home.

You, me and apparently a lot of people in Boliva per the efforts of President Evo Morales to take a true leadership role. It seems we better get our act together asap instead of whenever it pleases ‘us’.

Appreciate the message at the end of the post, though I must admit I may be one of the few who hasn’t seen Avatar.

    • April 19, 2010 at 9:40 pm

Hey Adam, well seeing Avatar is not necessary–though it might help understand why James Cameron visited the Amazon. Check out the World Peoples’ Summit ongoing in Boliva and you will forget all about Avatar.

heh! I haven’t seen Avatar yet either, however, know the issues we face… it makes me angry. My wake up moment wasn’t just having a child and being responsible for her… it was in sitting and visiting with some kids, and I realized I was responsible for THEM. me. with every dollar I spend, mile I drive.

thank you for the link… and I’ll leave with…

Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.

Hi Cindy–you raise an important point–that of being aware of just what we spend money on and what that supports. Let’s hope we get our acts together BEFORE the last tree, fish, and river–or those children might not live very long in a totally toxic world.
