1 film you must buy to view in the USA–The Only Good Indian

Purchasing a dvd benefits the Haskell Foundation.

Why does the film industry in the USA fear this film?

Oh yeah, truth makes people very, very uncomfortable. Wouldn’t want to do that, now would we?

Go figure

I just watched this movie. It is really great. I have always felt this powerful feeling of helplessness and gripping fear when I think of the horrible inhuman way those children and their parents were treated. It disgusts me. It makes me so angry.

I was crying so hard when trying to read I Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee that I was never able to finish it. What makes human beings such hideously ugly creatures?

Have you ever seen Rabbit Proof Fence? The Australian version of this despicable policy depicted in film. I highly recommend it. I think they too have apologized and made reparations.

Hi Meg. Thanks for your very candid comments. I have seen Rabbit Proof Fence–haunting film.
The only thing I’d change story-wise in The Only Good Indian is that that Studi’s character would be an Indian Policeman on a reservation. Those men often had to confront their own people and take children away forcibly. That truth adds another level of psychological abuse to the reality of the destruction of families and young hearts and minds.
Good to hear from someone else who has seen the movie.
I had the good fortune to view it on the big screen during the Kansas Film Festival where there was so much interest they had two showings on the same night. Earlier show sold out and second show was nearly packed full.
