Red Cloud Recognized for Lakota Solar Enterprises!

The Nuclear-Free Future Award 2010

Don’t think we can live nuclear-free? Think about this–the half-life of Uranium -238 aka depleted Uranium is 4.5 BILLION YEARS.

No, that’s NOT a typo–4.5 BILLION YEARS –yes radioactivity produced for billions of years. Your great grand-children will not outlive this stuff. I don’t know about you, but I don’t consider this a good thing.

For an explanation of  “half-life” and  chart of Radioactive By-Products of Depleted Uranium  surf here:

Yeah it’s very very scary just how long lethal elements LIVE and continue their toxic legacies. And we thought plastic grocery bags were tough to kill.  This brings us to the main human interest item of this post–one of the 2010 recipients of the Nuclear Free Future Awards–Henry Red Cloud of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.  Red Cloud is the founder of Lakota Solar Enterprises. Much thanks to ThisBoyTv for uploading the Democracy Now! interview to YouTube.

How much does wind power pollute? How much does solar power pollute? OOps gotta switch gears here for water–how polluted is Earth’s water? Plastics, petroleum, and Trash–O my–when there are no fish, whales, dolphins, shrimp, and turtles  it’s a bad bad stone-dead-canary-in-the- mine kind of sign.  Yep, nuclear energy is on my mind lately. It’s become an important issue in Kansas City. I guess the bottom line–is employment worth dying for? More on this local issue later. For now, let’s keep the bloglight on Henry Red Cloud.

Good for Henry Red Cloud! Anything with the word nuclear in terrifies me:0

Hi Lynda. Anything nuclear well ought to strike terror on the level of ‘survival’ into anyone! But our fearless leaders are busy being ‘fearless’ it appears. Playing the odds?
