Breaking World News–“Think Thin” Eat less of that burger!

Oh thanks to Diane Swayer’s World News coverage last night for making a joke of journalism with a decent portion of the World News coverage being given to informing folks to “think thin” and “imagine” eating the foods you crave in oder to consume LESS of them when you are eating. Yes, this was WORLD NEWS on ABC on Friday evening.  This is what is offered to the American public instead of coverage of actual world events. Oh they did hit the Nobel Peace Prize conflicts with China’s homeland security agenda. And lets not forget that some fairy tales do come true–as in Prince Charles and his wife winding up unexpectedly in the midst of some folks protesting the tripling of tuition at universities in England. On the video footage—how handy that there is film footage of this close encounter–someone can be heard shouting, “Off with their heads!” Hmm–no wonder Camilla looks terrified.

Side note:  Hey, has anyone else noticed that the same assault on affordable higher education is taking place in America? Oh yeah, private interests have infiltrated and corrupted the state of California’s university system and are doing all they can to put education out of economic reach of the student population. Message seems to be–increase our profit margin or go away asap. Is real  education in general becoming  a luxury purchase item? Sure looks that way.

Well back to the beautiful blonde Diane Swayer’s presentation of World News–yes, everyone around the world, it is of vital importance that you learn this technique that will help you not eat not as much food. Oh while presenting much footage of people consuming food from that golden arch place. What was that? An advertisement for eating at the golden arches? What else could it be?

Is there a shortage of important events around the world that this was the best Swayer’s handlers could come up with? I think not. But it does comfort the consumer addicted American public to know that there is help for their obesity. Just “think thin” and all will be right with the World.  Check it out–especially all you ladies:

Your homework mission, if you decide to accept it, is to compare and contrast and report your thoughts when so inclined.

This is America.

Most of the so-called news shows should be categorized as variety shows given the entertainment aspect of them. 😦 I prefer to watch Linktv if I want news.

“Entertainment aspect”–yes, Charles–that’s it exactly. News as entertainment so that no one starts thinking about what’s actually important.

I have to say that both our governments seem to be being extremely short-sighted where the education system is concerned. They never seem to learn. an uneducated population cannot make profit for them in the future. They will simply end up with more youngsters in crummy jobs with mo money to spend. How does an economy grow like that? Not to mention the skill shortages that can result. When apprenticeships were scrapped here, it was thought to be a great cost cutting excercise. Now we’re crying out for plumbers, electricians etc and they come in from Europe while our own people, untrained, are stuck on benefits. Homer Simpson has a word for this. Doh!!!!

Cost cutting for education has higher costs in consequences. I find it interesting that people who have had the benefit of quality education are so willing to deprive others of the same opportunity.
      “Doh!!!” indeed, Hi.

You can already see and feel the effects of a ruined public university system all around you. School is so expensive that those who attempt to earn a degree have to accept so much personal debt. The degrees they are going after have more to do with vocational certification than with enlightenment. I met a young person recently about to graduate with a degree from Yale University and she doesn’t know if it will even point her to a job. She probably should have gone to plumbing school since we need people who can make and fix things.

Making and fixing the ‘ruins’ ought to be a priority. There are many sorts of things that need ‘fixing’–including our failed approach to public education for all children. Hi Al. Hmm can a Yale graduate create river art?

Yes that picture of charles and camilla is a treasure
normally they are the people who make people scared now they found out what it is like to be threaten with an army.
I gave away my TV long time ago a good old friend of me called it the idiot box and i do agree

the internet is brilliant as you have so many brilliant sites giving a different picture and so many people telling what they think and giving information.
there is no way that any government can truly control this big network of rebellion

    • December 12, 2010 at 3:13 pm

O there’s that word “control”–yep–all those folks who want to “control” everything just for their benefit. One of the reasons television media has become entertainment floating in idiot boxes instead of fulfilling its potential for information, education, and exploring. Hence the internet explosion.
How are your water words of late, mAgdA?
