Eva, Is it true that in the early days of A-bomb testing the scientists involved weren’t sure if the nuclear reaction wouldn’t also burn away the atmosphere…so they went ahead and did it anyway!! If more than an urban myth, what does this tell us about human nature?

This is no myth this did happen Leo Szillard was one of the scientists who was not sure if it would not trigger a chain reaction which could damage the atmosphere and even the planet, but Edward Teller did push ahead YES sad that the outcome is how it is now we are burned for life.

      • January 27, 2011 at 1:27 pm

Many people were burned out of existence in a flash at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Oh and then there’s all that radioactive fall-out floating around with a half life of 405 BILLION years. Oh yeah, toxic waste for EVERYONE!

    • January 27, 2011 at 1:24 pm

Al, well, it seems that marvelous mAgDA, has answered part of your inquiry.
What does this tell us about human nature?
It tells us that ‘these’ humans were/are out of whack and not living in balance. My perspective. Other perspectives are welcome for Al’s question.

Atomic bombers? well that’s a catchy name. lol
Lol, i like the way you referred to the TV as the idiot box.
Odd how i aspire to get inside the box at some point

    • January 27, 2011 at 1:31 pm

Tart, your aspirations are interesting indeed. I hope this isn’t meant to be taken literally–as in you’re looking for a box large enough to fit you inside. !!!!

I am on S L O W dial up…probably the only one left with DSL speed… I can’t live stream anything…it all turns into an extremely slow trickle. Otherwise, I would have listened. 😦

    • January 27, 2011 at 1:34 pm

Oh so sorry! Perhaps before Part 2 airs next Wednesday you can find someone willing to share a faster connection that allows streaming and interested in some free quality entertainment based on history. Hello!

Eva, I missed this ~ but would’ve loved to catch it, thanks for the link info. I lived a few years as a kid in Los Alamos, so I have a bit of a different connection. Must say, it’s a still as scary when I recall all the research and secrecy…then add in the radiation!

    • January 27, 2011 at 6:35 pm

Roxie, it sounds like you’ve got a STORY to tell/write. Have you put your connection’s experiences into ‘ink’? If so, I’d be very interested to read what you’ve written.
Oh and do take note–that there’s a different schedule and other information for L.A. Theatre works on their homepage. I found them when KKFI began airing their productions online at . And KKFI’s schedule isn’t in line with what’s ‘current’ on L.A. Theatre–soooooo you might have options for hearing OTHER productions.
At any rate, I hope you find something you enjoy!

True, but the names must be changed to protect me…one day Eva, it’ll all come spillin out. Meantime, I’ll bookmark the site, sounds like I’ll enjoy their productions! Thanks again for your great posts! 😉
