Gee, ya think the occupiers are onto to what this Trader is saying? What’s occupying your mind?

Well, now those folks occupying Wall Street–and “Liberty Park”–really have a point when they shout about corruption and greed on Wall Street. Gee, I think they’re onto something real. Don’t you?

I confess I have developed a new vice lately– it is watching the Global Revolution livestream and chat of  Occupy Wall Street that runs just about constantly with live footage or video clips when rest is needed. This media team works beyond the call of duty day in and out.  The feed content runs from the mundane logistics of showing the batteries needed for the media team to the increasingly interesting handling of the General Assemblies, complete with the creation of the “human mic” since the police deny them the use of bullhorn (yeah, that’s why everyone loudly repeats what’s said). And then there are the marches complete with police escorts deluxe.  The police are making the news all by themselves lately as there are so many people with cameras that if one person is arrested for filming, there are dozens of others there to record the event–and every face slammed into the street without provocation.  It took stubborn determination on the part of the marching occupiers to reach the Postal Workers’ Rally as the police blocked several streets in an effort to prevent the two groups from joining ranks.  When the occupiers turned a corner and saw the Postal Workers the joyful cheers were intense and spine-tingling.  An alliance was immediately created there in the New York streets.  One part of the 99% had found another part of the 99% and together they were greater than apart. More alliances are on the docket for consideration via the General Assemblies. “Reach out and touch someone” has a new meaning these days.

Take note that this is a peaceful and nonviolent occupation. Nonviolence is touted and mandated even in the chat stream. Violators are warned, cleared and banned. Hate is not welcome. Violence is banned.

This is a petri dish of community discovery and exploration of evolving ideas, thoughts and values. It’s incredible to watch it change and grow day by day–and nights too.  This is not the status quo—no, it’s not. This is something new working hard to be born.  This is America waking up. And like anyone who sleeps hard–there are crusty eyelashes, wild hair and dazed moments.  Where it’s going is anyone’s guess. But we know where we are and where we’ve been. New trails need to be blazed regarding human community–and this is one search for where to begin a new and better way of be-ing.  Like any brainstorming work session it’s messy and chaotic and crazy.  But then there’s the next step and the next until ??????  Who knows?

Surf into to “Liberty Park” and New York City at will:

The guy on the video is giving us the best reason why people should care about their government because the big multinational corporations don’t and they also don’t salute our flag or give a fig for humanity at large. It seems the dominoes are lining up just right for the people who are betting on failure.

I breath a giant sigh as I listen to this. My heart skips a beat and then two. I find myself asking if the greed is so great that those at Goldman Sachs are not saying uh gee maybe we should start hiring people. Then my mind the one that knows how insidious all this is jumps in at says really? Are you really that dumb? Even they are too short sighted to see beyond the big fat wallet they are mesmerized by. Thank you for sharing all this. You are far more reliable a news source than any network program.

Meg, I too wonder what these people THINK will be the consequences of their actions–and IF they care.
Thanks for appreciating my efforts to share what I find important and significant in these strange times. I sooo wish we had more real news outlets like Democracy Now!

Good luck to you over there in the Sates. Here in Britain we seem to be fractured, beaten down and unsure. The mood varies from depression to inertia. The unfortunate riots involving violence and looting in July did nothing for solidarity or positive thinking, and I feel ashamed that the British could not find a more positive means of protest with more positive aims. There are those of us quietly adding names to petitions, protesting in our own ways against the greed and corruption, but what a mammoth task!

You’re right, Chriscaff. And violence never helps anything. So demoralizing. Hopefully a real change will come–with a lot of hard work.

The video is a classic defintion of “greed”…but very straight-up in where we are right now in terms of the economy.

Charles, yeah this guy is so OPEN and without a care about the import of what he’s saying to the rest of us. Illustrates the mentality of Wall Street and World Banking in a way that’s sort of scary!
