Whose up for some TRUTH? Hmm? No snow required. No whistles blowing. Just the reality of Utah, BLM, DeChristopher and Climate Change. If you’re in LA–then where else do you NEED to be?
Yes, according to Gage and Gage Productions–the people who made the film Bidder 70, the one and only Tim DeChristopher will appear on late night television with David Letterman this Tuesday June 25, 2013.
Oh yeah, let’s frack the night away! It’s time to rock the status quo boats!
If you’re in the dark about the bright light that is Mr. Tim DeChristopher, then check him out on Bill Moyers.
“Check your local listings for showtimes and if you are in LA, check out the premiere of Bidder 70 at the Laemmle Theater June 28th through July 4th!”
While I’m not quite up to snuff yet in regard to my blogcasa, recent developments regarding Bidder 70 demand a posting because the one thing Big Brother wishes for is Silence and Acceptance of the “way things are and have been” in order to maintain the same for the future no matter how unsustainable that truly is.
If you are in the dark regarding how the American judicial system is a tool of those willing to destroy the Earth for personal wealth and power then it’s time to learn what Tim DeChristopher aka Bidder 70 did and why he went to prison. Keywords: illegal, auction, land, gas, oil, leases, Utah, felony, protest.
According to Peaceful Uprising site information, DeChristopher is now in a halfway house in Utah where he remains a federal inmate. But it’s just a matter of time before Tim DeChristopher rushes the field again. Have no doubt that Big Brother will be keeping a very close watch on Mr. DeChristopher. I suggest we all keep a close eye on Bidder 70–and make sure Big Brother knows we are watching Big Brother right back.
Not inclined to surf the links? Okay-here’s the easy read: Tim DeChristopher committed the godawful crime of participating in an illegal auction of public lands in order to prevent said lands from being illegally purchased by oil and gas companies. The US Government has acknowledged that the land auction was illegal but no one else other than DeChristopher has been charged or convicted of any wrong doing. Only the man creatively protesting the illegal auction was charged, convicted and sent to prison. Apparently Big Brother just wanted DeChristopher to shut up. Bidder 70 did not shut up. So they sent him to the pokey.
It’s been a strange morning here where spring has apparently sprung right into summer: herons nesting in residential area, magnolia blooms come and gone, rose bushes budding and balmy warm winds. It seems things are just a wee bit out of sync in the natural scheme of things. But one early morning email made it even stranger because of the news it carried regarding environmental activist Tim DeChristopher being placed in solitary confinement via the demand of an unidentifed US congressman. Apparently one of DeChristopher’s emails disturbed the mental health of some congressman because of content regarding some financial matters discussed regarding a contributor to his own legal fund. Now why does a US congressman get to request the solitary confinement of a political prisoner in a minimum security prison based on the content of their email concerning the business practices of a contributor to his defence fund? Why has this elected US congressman remained unidentified? Who is this person? What right do they have to dictate the practices of a prison in California regarding a low risk prisoner? Why does Tim DeChristopher’s concerns about who funds his legal defence concern any US congressman? Who gave any congressman the right to wield political influence in such a manner? Whose money is behind this harassment of DeChristopher? What is the incognito congressperson soo threatened by in Tim DeChristopher’s email? Personally I have no specific answers. But–as this seems to center on a discussion of business practices, values, a legal defence and the only thing respected in the USA aka MONEY– my imagination is having a free-for-all this morning with this news. Btw, this little chess move on the prison political game board was covered by Democracy Now! in headlines for March 28, 2012. I suspect the alternative press may begin racketballing the item as soon as they get their heads out of their symbolic hoodies over the senseless murder of young Trayvon Martin in Florida.
Now, since I’ve been following Tim DeChristopher’s journey ever since learning about his gig as Bidder 70 at an illegal land auction of oil and gas leases—wait–there’s that special special word ‘oil’–oops—yes, DeChristopher upset the oil carts of some oil people by throwing a monkey wrench in their plans to acquire public lands on the cheap during an illegal federal auction. Do I really need to write anything more? Hmm? Do I?
Yes I do. I need to share the request of Peaceful Uprising asking for support for Tim DeChristopher to be removed from solitary confinement. What is going on in America? For more information about Tim DeChrisptopher aka Bidder 70 http://www.peacefuluprising.org/tim-dechristopher
President Obama is earnestly ignoring number 9 on Jeff Goodell’s Rolling Stone list of “10 things to do for the environment”–“pardon Tim DeChristopher.”
Apparently putting Tim DeChrisptoher in prison for protecting America’s environment from illegal oil development leases is not enough for some people. They want in him in solitary confinement to further restrict his communication with the rest of the world beyond Herlong Prison. Why?
Oh the tea kettle is whistling–time for a chat with George Orwell.
The following is copied directly from Peaceful Uprising:
In response to Tim’s transfer into isolated confinement, we’re asking you to please take a few moments to call the following contacts (or whomever you have time to call from this list) and ask that:
“Tim DeChristopher inmate #16156-081 be immediately removed from the Special Housing Unit (SHU) and placed back in the Minimum Security Camp at FCI Herlong.”
If you’d like to say more, here are a few key talking points we suggest:
Moving Tim DeChristopher to SHU based on the complaint of an unidentified Congressman doesn’t make sense. Why is Congress intervening in one inmates detention status, anyway?
Keeping inmates in isolated confinement for an indefinite amount of time awaiting a hearing is not humane and is not acceptable.
*FOR CONGRESSIONAL MEMBERS* If they are your congressperson, tell them about the situation, [read here] and ask them if they know who ordered the transfer, and that you’d like them to take a look into it and get back to you promptly. Ask them why Congress is taking such an interest in the emails of one inmate. Tell them that Tim is a nonviolent offender who was wrongly charged and convicted to begin with, and was placed in a minimum security camp because he posed no threat to anyone. If you have time, mention that an oil and gas company owned by William Koch was recently found to have conspired to defeat a BLM oil and gas lease auction, but was merely fined, while Tim sits in isolated confinement after being charged with two felonies. If you call Jason Chaffetz, ask him to launch an investigation in his oversight committee.

Love our Earth? Enjoy the great outdoors? Want a sustainable future for everyone? Then join Peaceful Uprising, myself and others to share solidarity with Tim DeChrisptohper AKA Bidder 70, on June 23, 2011. Peaceful Uprising currently has 39 events scheduled where folks are planning on going to their federal courthouse to display an orange solidarity banner and taking photos of it. I realize not everyone has the opportunity to engage in this visual show of solidarity for DeChristopher who faces imprisonment for taking action to save public lands during an illegal land auction. What did he do? He bid on the lands and then made arrangements to purchase them to save them from illegal gas and oil development. While Tim faces imprisonment for his actions the people who arranged the illegal land auction face NO accountability for the illegal auction. DeChristpoher’s motive for his actions was not allowed to be part of his defence. Now isn’t that odd—the legal system doesn’t care why Tim DeChristopher picked up an auction paddle and became Bidder 70. But the system is apparently quite angry that he did anything to foil an illegal auction that oil and gas companies would have benefitted from. Do we smell fracking here? Hmm? Surely not! The legal system is so ticked off it has delayed sentencing DeChrisptopher yet again! Apparently it got wind of the planned solidarity rally in Utah and decided to keep things “quiet” in order to not attract media coverage. Well, I seriously doubt there will be much media coverage on June 23. Hey, the mainstream press IGNORED the protests in Wisconsin for as long as possible. It knew of and ignored the War Protests in front of the White House where 144 people were arrested. Corporate media wants no part of people speaking truth to power as DeChristopher has done. So, it’s up to me–and you as the audience–you’re here reading, right?–to do the media’s job and spread the word about Tim DeChristopher as Bidder 70. Information is knowledge. Knowledge is power. Get informed. Get empowered. Empower others. Share solidarity on June 23 by spreading the news! Visit Peaceful Uprising to learn about the actions, trial, sentencing and events. There’s even a rally location map online. It’s just for the USA. Why don’t we make it GLOBAL? Get informed then decide for yourself to tweet/blog/text/facebook –or not– in Solidarity with DeChristopher on June 23. It’s about YOUR future too.
Peaceful Uprising, Defending a Livable Future through empowering NON-violent action.
In a very real sense Bidder 70, Tim DeChristopher, has been found guilty of a lack of premeditation in regard to his effort to save public lands in Utah from gas and oil company exploitation via illegal land sales. Yes, illegal even according to Interior Secretary Salazar. Having watched way too much crime drama on the idiot box, I find it strange that a judge would not allow DeChristophers’s MOTIVE for his actions be part of his defense. What was Tim DeChristopher’s motive? To save public lands from illegal land sales to gas and oil companies. Huh, and that’s a ‘bad’ thing? It’s a motive the judge clearly didn’t want spread about in the media. Such a motive might give people ideas, raise some serious questions, and might incite a huge public uproar? If you haven’t heard of Bidder 70, ask yourself why not? Seriously–ask why information about Tim DeChristopher’s spontaneous action in 2008 has not reached your over stimulated eyes and ears. Believe me, Obama and friends are very well aware of DeChristopher and his rescue of public land from the shady fun and games of the Bush playbook. Why isn’t all of America debating the issues that Bidder 70’s Trial raise? Why aren’t we all talking about a young man who has NO regrets for doing what he did and is willing to pay the legal price because he knows he did what needed to be done? Why aren’t we all questioning how our public lands are under threat by companies which are responsible for the destruction of our environment–the very environment that supports our ability to LIVE? Guess what America, it’s illegal to engage in ethical, moral, just action to save the Earth. Would you do what Tim DeChristopher did when he entered that auction and began bidding? Interesting to also note that the judge would NOT allow the fact that DeChristopher actually raised the money to buy the lands he bid on to be part of his legal defence. Yes, Bidder 70 actually was going to play the rules of the game and PAY for the lands he won through bidding at an auction. But the jury was not allowed to know this information. What’s that tell you?

AND
On the ongoing Peaceful Uprising in Mad-City–there’s a “rumor” that Dennis Kucinich will speak at the rally on Saturday. I suspect this rumor is true.
Btw, it’s also tractor rally time in Madison this Saturday as the Farmers protest the “Repair” bill’s cutting consequences for their Badger Care.
