In the most unlikely places and at the most unexpected moments delightful surprises appear. Much to my wonderment on Saturday the still new “crepes on the square” was invaded by a mime troop. Much in opposition to popular belief, high school age young people can and do indulge in creative and interesting pursuits beyond the idiot boxes in such aboundance. Their high top black and white converse tennies were the first thing I noticed moving past as I relished my first bite of a banana & nutella crepe. Following those passing shoes upward I found the nearby table surrounded by six white gloved young mimes engaged in silent yet very animated conversation. It was impossible to resist making efforts at mime chat. Hence I discovered that some of the mimes have a band–yes–a band. “Dear Lucille” –yes, named in tribute to Lucille Ball. “Dear Lucille” plays 1940s & 1950s music. They claim their music is in the vein of Elvis. Who am I to argue with Lucy the Mime?
“Dear Lucille” features the talents of Lucy, Mikayla & Nobian. Oh and their lead singer goes by the name of Alexa Putnam.
