Would you blog for peace?

Bloggers blog, right? Duh. We write short and long posts about everything from sex and drugs to forest slugs and oil spill slime.  There are over 300,000 bloggers just in WordPress land.  Lots more in the cyber-space beyond.  Blogging goes on around the globe.  In WordPress we find each other via tags and networking. We can connect with people in different time zones all day long.  We work the world-wide web like cyber demons sharing our humor,  poems, paintings, photographs, pains, joys, news, opinions, and everything else under the sun.  I wonder how many bloggers would blog a plea for world peace.  Just one blog post in the manner of one’s choice–poem, art, music, just a simple few words to signify that you desire peace around the world. How many bloggers would blog for peace? I don’t know.  I am  curious.  Shall we find out?

If you blog a plea for peace in the world please leave a link to your peace post.

Are we all human ticking time-bombs?

Are we more than killing machines? Seriously, take a moment to consider our history of wars, death and destruction and what conclusion do you reach? Is this behavior the result of free will and human choice or is it hardwired into our DNA? Is it our fate to self destruct via war or contamination of our only viable environment on Earth? Can we choose to behave differently? Are we capable as a species of living in balance and harmony with the Earth and each other? Can we become something other than what we have been so far? Can we create the changes needed for the survival of future generations in a world worth living in? Or are we simply desperate lab rats caught in a perpetual maze of dead ends?

Have we learned any thing at all from history? Personally I seriously doubt it based on the current state of world affairs.

Shock and awe, anyone? If the blast doesn’t wow you, then think about the science of 405 billion years of active invisible toxic shock. Yes, the “bomb” is now invisible but its ability to kill remains.

Now we have drones so that we can kill anyone at a distance.  Is war what we humans do best? If we didn’t engage in war, what might we do with all our resources? Could we not have created a sustainable world-wide energy complex by now? We produce enough food to feed everyone, why aren’t those who have more than enough of food and everything else sharing with those who are starving? technology exists that would allow us to not pollute Earth–so why aren’t we using it instead of blowing the tops off mountains and polluting the air, water, and soil?

Why are we not living in a positive, productive, peaceful world? Are we incapable? Are psychopaths in control of everything? What’s going on? What do you think?

“All We Need is the Truth” ~ Bill Miller

It’s an election day here in the states. Yes, ‘truth’ has been on the minds of many of us–here and around this Earth.  We don’t seem to get much truth from anyone these days. Judging from the mainstream news coverage of WikiLeaks’ latest information sharing regarding the nature of war–truth is NOT a virtue or a commodity to be valued or desired.  Yes, it’s unpleasant to face the reality of making war, occupying countries and dominating other people by force.  It’s very easy to evade any mention of a ten years long military event in the states. If you don’t search for news coverage you can easily not know that there are soldiers dying and committing suicide, that civilians are killed without any regard for the value of their lives, that flag covered coffins arrive in various cities for homecomings of soldiers. Yes, there are many distractions in the states to avoid dealing with the truth of war.  Murder, rape, torture do not make for nice dinner table conversation.  During the Vietnam War it seemed impossible even for a child like myself to avoid war news. The truth of death and destruction arrived with the morning paper, with every edition of the nightly news, and with the radio music.  I still recall the story of a helicopter pilot’s death on the front page of the paper. “Bubbles” died on his very last flight mission. I can still see his smiling face in the photograph taken by a fellow soldier.  We don’t get such Truth these days. Denial is in high demand regarding everything from the grim nature of the gulf oil disaster to the killing of children in the Afghan countryside. Who are we? What are we? Seriously, what does it mean to be a ‘human being’ in these times? Are we simply commodities for corporate entities to buy, sell and trade? What does it mean to be humane? What does it mean to tell the truth? Why is truth-telling a ‘crime’? What the hell is going on?
