Hmm, how’s that poem working for you? May not make the publishing book grade, but it does the introduction rites job today. Sort of. Books are strange things. Never know just what you’ll find between their covers–hard copy or electronic, it makes no difference when the words are what make the mental meat of the matter. I have no clue how good or bad Medsger’s brand spanking new book reads. Yet. It’s literally a NEW release by Random House-as in publication dated yesterday.  Ironically the historical story it features is decades old. New book for an old untold story about American citizens taking things into their own hands in order to get to the truth of what matters.  According to the interview on Democracy Now! this morning, the newspaper media nearly failed them. The truth was very HOT to handle. Some political folks so feared the FBI that they turned their backs on the right to information regarding illegal activities by the FBI. One mailing of copied documents never reached its destination. Can we say “intercepted”? Or maybe just an honest mistake on the part of the postal service. I wouldn’t bet a penny on that.

Clearly history is repeating itself in current events. The stakes are just as high regarding freedom and civil liberties. A portion of the public is very paranoid. J. Edgar Hoover would be proud of the media spin on all things of politics regarding the military industrial complex and corporate personhood for inducing much paranoia–according the old documents stolen and “released.” Some times it’s just no fun having a theory proven. My next observation might seem like a side issue, but it’s not. How many ‘cop’ shows are on television? How many feature all sorts of fancy surveillance techno toys? How many feature terrorist threats week after week? How many evoke sympathy for the hardworking agents no matter what their flaws? Have you gotten used to the sound of gunfire from watching crime shows on television? Ever notice the lack of emotion from the people doing the shooting and the characters giving and recieving the news that someone has been killed?

Side note: At the opposite end are the medical heroes who do everything they can to save lives and then seem to suffer a sense of loss when their patients die. Hmm. I’ve yet to encounter any such doctor in my life experience. I’ve managed to send a couple running in a panic. I guess that proved those well educated individuals were human after all.

“Excuse me, doctor, but that’s not his sense of humor.  At the moment, he really thinks you’re all aliens out to kill him. He’s a lot stronger than he looks. I advise exercising caution when handling.” Watch doctor run back to ER room.

Back to the regular word flow:

I wonder if there’s a television program in the works about TSA folks in order to show us just how good all their intentions are as they intimidate, strip search, x-ray, hassle and belittle people everywhere with impunity in order to keep people safe.  The irony of TSA is a steak so thick an axe is needed to cut the meat.

What’s your paranoia meter reading? I know people who freak out every time there’s a plane crash and others who fear the sight of police people wearing gun holsters. I also know a fair number of folks who don’t give a flying f&*^ about anything except their daily routine and money-making. As long at those boats are not rocked, all is well in their universe.

Is there a safety lock somewhere?

Is this piece fully loaded?

http://www.democracynow.org – One of the great mysteries of the Vietnam War era has been solved. On March 8, 1971, a group of activists — including a cabdriver, a day care director and two professors — broke into an FBI office in Media, Pennsylvania. They stole every document they found and then leaked many to the press, including details about FBI abuses and the then-secret counter-intelligence program to infiltrate, monitor and disrupt social, political movements, nicknamed COINTELPRO. Calling themselves, the Citizen’s Commission to Investigate the FBI, no one was ever caught for the break-in. The burglars’ identities remained a secret until this week when they finally came forward to take credit for the caper that changed history. Today we are joined by three of them — John Raines, Bonnie Raines and Keith Forsyth; their attorney, David Kairys; and Betty Medsger, the former Washington Post reporter who first broke the story of the stolen FBI documents in 1971 and has now revealed the burglars’ identities in her new book, “The Burglary: The Discovery of J. Edgar Hoover’s Secret FBI.”

How’s your day? What’s in your mailbox? Have you fumigated lately?

Yes, I am looking forward to reading Medsger’s book.

“Koch Crisis” in Mad-City! Republican Senators Order Democratic Senators Arrested! All Will Do as the Koch Tool Walker bids at all costs! Obey! Obey! Obey Dictator Walker! “Resistance is Futile!”

It’s been another bi-polar fair weather day in Missouri. Cold front on the way to shove the springy warm sunnyshine on its way. Logged online this evening just in time to catch the breaking news that Republican Senators had ordered the arrest of the 14 Democratic Senators who have tossed a monkey wrench large enough and long enough into their nefarious Koch created “Budge Repair” agenda to raise the alarm among the Serfs of Wisconsin. I actually sat staring at my monitor in disbelief. Wow! What a hell of a story! I turned on my idiot box to see what PBS New Hour had to say on this latest development in the State of Cheese–and lo and behold there was Diane Woodruff  repeatedly mouthing Scott Walker’s misinformation regarding the collective bargaining rights of unions being responsible for the state’s budget problems as if it was gospel truth. Woodruff kept slinging the same bs at Richard Trumka of the AFL-CIO without getting whatever bs she wanted out of him. Trumka knows the score and kept providing Woodruff with informed intelligent answers containing information the flustered Woodruff clearly was not prepared to hear or reply to as any investigative journalist worth a grain of salt would have.  Or perhaps she just really did not want to hear what Trumka had to say? I don’t know which it is–but I was seriously put out by Woodruff’s “insensibility” to the accuracy issues Trumka raised with his answers about public workers being paid less than their counterparts in the private sector. Oh and Richard Trumka made a point that ALL reporters seem to have forgotten–Public Employees PAY TAXES!  Who’d have thunk that based on the news coverage of the ilk of FOX News. (Just gotta love FOX’s palm trees in Madison video.) Yes, indeed, unionized public workers PAY TAXES. They pay a higher tax rate than the KOCH Brothers do.  Maybe Woodruff just hadn’t bothered to do any background digging on her own of the ilk done by Travis Smily in his recent interview of Mary Bell who laid it all on the hard line. Ten big points for Travis! Major Kudos to Mary Bell who responded to questions with clear, intelligent, well-informed, articulate answers. No wonder Dictator Scotty Walker hates the teachers in Wisconsin. When Mary Bell talks she makes sense. I’m sure Bell has all the goods on Walker’s fun and games in Milwaukee County that have resulted in LOTS of legal issues and LOTS of legal restitution to workers wrongly fired in that locale. Nothing to be proud of Mr. Walker–no siree. Oh, but you know what–NO mainstream news station has squeaked about Walker’s record in Milwaukee County. They’ve let him tout it –LOL–another GREAT story not being covered. LOL. OH but the downside would be all the sh*t that fan blows all over Rep. Gov. Walker–and we can’t have that, can we in the illusion creating world of corporate dictated media? Way too smelly for the nose of Judy Woodruff–and god forbid ABC’s Diane Swayer should get a whiff of it.

Well–yes, Walker wants those 14 civilly disobedient Democratic Senators hauled back inside the capital building so that he can get his KOCH agenda underway. Koch Industries is losing all sorts of capital gains tax exclusions every day that they haven’t possession of the state’s energy works via their uncontested bids approved by Walker.

Now apparently there is some legal question about the right to actually arrest the 14 Dems.  This could work for Walker along the lines of his antics in Milwaukee County–which turned out to be illegal. Who knew?

Straight from Madison, news of the Republican Senate Order for the arrest of the Democratic State Senators foiling Dictator Walker’s Koch Agenda:

And, simply because I could not resist–>

I sure hope those AWOL Senators have news media on speed dial for news coverage of WI Police hauling them back to Mad-City.  Best bets would be Reuters, AlJazeera English and Democracy Now! because other options have conflicts of interests it seems when it comes to mainstream journalism in America.

Sharif tweets while Amanpour snags big time.

Democracy Now!’s  senior producer Sharif Kouddous is in Tahrir Square. Literally.  He has been twittering about everything from arrests of Amnesty International’s people to warning signals calling people to protect the entrances to Tahrir.  John Muir is in a hotel room with the blinds drawn. PBS’s Maureen Wagner informs viewers that she’s been informed it’s not safe in Cairo.  ABC’s Christiane Amanpour found her way to the presidential palace and snagged an exclusive with Mubarack–a sure fire ratings coup for American television.  How’d she get that front row face to face while Al Jazeera’s journalists are hunted in Cairo? That must have been a real string puller if there ever was one.  In America the BBC News gets 30 minutes on PBS. Diane Swayer literally stands on a map of the Middle East. Talking heads are soaking up American television limelights from soft safe seats.  If you’re wanting in depth substantial news coverage of significant events beyond Democracy Now!’s intense one hour daily newscast–then Al Jazeera English online offers great coverage. Hands down, you can’t  beat the breadth, range, depth and high quality of Al Jazeera English across the board.  Yet, here in America–if you want to access their outstanding journalism you’ve got to do it ONLINE.  Well, I’ve been, am and will continue to get it online as it sets the pace  for any other news media service in the world.  Sorry, BBC–they beat the reporting pants off you every time I compare and contrast coverage of world events.  Still, the BBC crew could back slap mainstream American journalists right through a Dr. Who wormhole with ease.  There’s no “think thin while you eat junk food” malarky eating up broadcast time from the BBC.  Though I wouldn’t be surprised if there haven’t been tea time features.

Well Sharif has just tweeted that men are jogging around the square yelling “Leave!”–If you’re curious about what else he’s tweeting from ground zero in Tahrir– http://www.democracynow.org/blog/2011/1/29/sharif_kouddous_reporting_live_from_cairo_egypt
