Hey, so yeah, for today LP’s voice is tickling my eardrums enough to wind up here as an introductory post for anyone who didn’t catch her Into the Wild Official Video previously  in The Wild post. I’ve included three interview videos to give some small sense of her.

Here’s a Wikipedia link for background information about LP  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L.P._(singer)  For the music information collectors among you, it’s a starting point for learning about a voice that in 2006  “. . . sparked a bidding war amongst major labels. ” Listen to the Halo track (currently at the top of the side-bar) and there’s no denying her incredible power, range and emotive abilities which seem so effortless upon delivery.

~~Jazz is for everybody~~  [Visit Carsie’s site to hear more.]

I’m Carsie Blanton. I write songs. I believe there’s a worldwide epidemic of indirectness, and I aim to remedy it.

Love is hard. Sex is fun. Life is messy. We’re all going to die. Our hearts are idiots, our wills are weak, we’re bumbling around fucking the wrong people and falling in love for the wrong reasons and pretending like we have all the time in the world to figure it out. My aim is to write songs that make you stop pretending, even if only for an instant. I want to wake you up to your brief, idiotic, miraculous life.

Under the weather –as in out of commission and snow plowed not coming down this street any time soon, plus, oops that was not such a good idea to eat mystery meal.  Yeah, I’m shoveling my way out of bed and out of the drive with nowhere to go but snow time.  Hey folks, I’m getting back here slowly but surely.  As long as saying so doesn’t jinx that.  Until then, grin, dance and sang with Carsie Blanton.  I’m tattoo curious as to which of her music videos on the sidebar trips your traps.  Yeah, indeed I am. 🙂

Sexy Sunday~late on Monday~ Ray Wilson~who else?

Time for a great guy voice with a sexy edge and some song ‘substance’.  Some things old, some things new, something in between. I’ve gone for variety here, folks, just to provide a small ear taste.  Poets, heads up–this is not pop mushy mush. If you’ve heard “Calling All Stations” then you you’ve heard Ray Wilson. If not, well, have a listen to other songs.

Coffeehouse Contemporary Counting Codas

Sunday mornings you can get your coffeehouse music fix on Jeanne Jasperse’s Coffeehouse Radio Show on KKFI no matter where you are as long as you’re swinging in the world wide web.  I’m sending this up the flagpole at this time because Jeanne is a contemporary songwriter/singer and long long time host of the Coffeehouse AND she’s got deep roots in the independent  songwriter/singer community.  She’s been connecting codas at the Kerrville Folk Festival for 20 years. And she brings it ALL back to KKFI listeners every year for nada. And she’s back from another round at Kerrville with all the musical goodies she can carry!  Jeanne puts it all out for FREE. She’s one of KKFI’s long time volunteer jewels of the musical treasury found nowhere else on any fm or am dial in the USA. No corporate executive tells Jasperse what to put on the sound waves. No budget accountant  clears her travel expenses. No program director censors her choices for songs and interviews with contemporary songwriters/performers. It’s ALL her every Sunday on 90.1 fm. Jeanne Jasperse’s ongoing contributions to KKFI’s sound waves are some  of the many reasons KKFI is RADIO LIKE YOU’VE NEVER HEARD IT BEFORE.  Every week Jasperse’s program is as unique as the sound of her voice, the musical artists who visit her show, and her memories of her late canine companion.  Be careful, there are times when her music choices can break your heart.

Explore the world of contemporay folk music every Sunday from 9 to 11 am with Jeanne via www.kkfi.org   streaming live online 24/7  365.  Hear for yourself what a volunteer staffed 100,000 watt radio station GIVES to our community.  Listen and dream of what radio could be in your community.
