Fast Food Workers Strike today! Solidarity! Greedy CEO Cats have FATTEST paychecks.

In Solidarity

While I am not a fan of fast food– I am a supporter of workers earning a living wage and their right to unionize.

Exploitation is Exploitation is Exploitation.

Greed is Greed.

Without the workers there would be NO fast food.

Who makes your burger and fries?

Not the rich CEOs who refuse to share the billions in  profits with the people who do the work.

Who makes $9,220 per hour?

CEOs.

Some fast food workers  LIVE on that amount of money for an entire year while working FULL time.

Finance Online

Can a CEO flame broil a burger or anything else? Would they ever work for the wages they pay their employees? I doubt it.

Political? Active? Musical? Thematic? –Oooo Johnny what have you done?

Well, yeah, I got a little carried away with Johnny’s theme, Political/Activist–Musical Selections. I feel like I haven’t even scratched the surface here. There are so many ways to go with this theme.  Hmm.  Oh well, it is what it is.  Namaste.

“Tibetans  challenge XI Jinping – Gangnam Style.

Upload by   SFTHQ   http://www.youtube.com/user/SFTHQ?feature=watch

Published on Nov 7, 2012

On the eve of the CCP’s 18th Party Congress, Students for a Free Tibet and the International Tibet Network release a parody video titled “Tibetans challenge Xi Jinping – Gangnam Style.” A takeoff of Korean star Psy’s uber-popular Gangnam Style, the video features China’s heir apparent as a dimwit — a big-headed oaf whose only response to Tibetans’ growing resistance is to arrest, beat and torture protestors. But Xi — like the four generations of undemocratic CCP heads before him — cannot stop Tibetans who are moving beyond fear and challenging the very foundations of Chinese rule in Tibet. Ultimately, the joke is on Xi Jinping, the soon to be leader of the unfree world and a remnant of authoritarian rulers of the past. Xi: Resolve the Tibet crisis now or Tibet will soon become your biggest headache.

Join Tibet’s Xi Challenge:
http://www.xijinping-tibetchallenge.org/

About the making of this video: Using the power of humor and theater, this video highlights the cruelty and absurdity of the Chinese government’s colonial policies in Tibet that have driven 63 Tibetans to set themselves on fire in protest of Chinese rule; 50 this year alone. It also depicts some of the creative protest tactics being used by Tibetans to challenge China’s occupation, including a 2011 boycott of Chinese vegetable vendors. This video will be banned in China and Tibet but Beijing’s censors cannot stop the truth from spreading: Xi Jinping, China’s 5th generation leader will be the last to rule Tibet. Above all, this video is a call to action to the world, urging individuals and governments to help the Tibetan people in their nonviolent struggle for freedom.

Madison, WI, USA:

Two Weeks In Madison WI, A Tribute, The music is “Wander My Friends” by Bear McCreary

TheVoiceOfWisconsin

BEFORE there was “Occupy”  the people of Wisconsin occupied the Capital Building in protest.  This ongoing event was IGNORED by most of mainstream media in the United States.  Other countries sent reporters to cover what was happening in Madison while the major networks in the USA did their best to ignore it. Democracy Now! was one of the few American news outlets that provided coverage. Students, teachers, firefighters, farmers and people from every social economic class in WI joined together with the Wisconsin 14 who did the only thing they could to stop The Bill–they exiled themselves from the state of WI.

“Tell Me What Democracy Looks: This is What Democracy Looks Like” —Inside the Capital building in Madison–this was not a fifteen minute protest. This continued for days on end until Gov. Scot Walker found ways to keep the people out of the building. Enlarge the video to full screen and watch for the round ‘food’ tray, I think it’s bread, come to the drummers through the crowd.

Idle No More

Bullet Proof

No Time For Apathy

Fair Use – For Educational Purposes Only (feel free to mirror)I do not own any of the material (music, images & video).Watch in HD/Full Screen and read the following before starting the video. The following video tries to cover 1200 years of History (from my perception, I live in BC so there is a couple of issues that are close to my heart that are represented), relating to the indigenous peoples of North America from the Viking, Spanish and British invasions, to current. It is an attempt to cover a long time frame in a short period of time and I mean no disrespect to anyone. It is a show of support for the “Idle No More” campaign, and to show my support towards peaceful protests. The images and videos used are meant to portray a general overview and are not meant to cast all non indigenous individuals in a bad light. I believe most human beings are on the same page when it comes to equality and fair treatment. It is a little blunt, but sometimes there is no way around it…..Music:”Titanium” – David Guetta cover by: Boyce Avenue

  • Stephen Bantu Biko was an anti-apartheid activist in South Africa in the 1960s and 1970s. A student leader, he later founded the Black Consciousness Movement which would empower and mobilize much of the urban black population. Wikipedia

I know I should decide on a version of the same song but I can’t.  So take your pick. The first offers the incredible live crowd. The second offers images from the film “Cry Freedom”.

Occupy Oakland Port Shut down   “Be My Own Radio”

sftimecap

Bay musical group we dont know their name provides musical context for the joy and pride felt by of all those present at the Port of Oakland Shut Down, today, 11.2.11. This non-violent action was done in the most peaceful and loving way in the HISTORY OF MANKIND! The people of Oakland, CA have showed the rest of us how to stand together and continue this move towards true democracy and true economic repair of the chronic and cynical damage inflicted on the 99 by the greed of the 1%.

To provide a sense of the number of people involved, here is Helicopter ‘music’ from the air view provided by a news cam. Soon after there would be no more of these views as the local television stations ceased reporting to the public the huge turnout. Probably in an effort to NOT inform and encourage others to participate. The main coverage was via people live-streaming the event on the ground via smart phones and laptops to online  livestream sites where thousands more people watched on the world wide web.

Occupy Oakland called for a general strike on the Port of Oakland, the 5th Largest port in the United States. They held the Port for 20+ hours stopping out incoming and outgoing cargo trucks.

What are you doing on August 29, “Low Pay Is Not Okay” Day? Forget the burgers and fries cuz fast food ain’t gonna fly.

1912 to 2013 and the issues are rising again like bread and roses

Yeast and water

Soil and sun

Bread and Roses

Women and men to the streets again

Will this cycle never be done?

They’re not asking for your mansions, your jets, your yachts, your limos, your Rolex watches or you pearls

They’re asking for food, heat, housing and flowers.

Why do you have a problem with that?

Without workers there would be nothing made anywhere, anytime, anyhow.

Wait, this is America–the land of the outsourced company to other lands of  work till you’re dead opportunities.

Let’s outsource those burgers and fries and see how the toilet flushes then.

**

Why do those who profit most refuse to support those who make the profit possible?

If you cleared $ 5.5 Billion in profit what would you do with it?

Yeah, everyone has got to eat. What if you couldn’t get fast food for eight weeks straight anywhere? Would you be OVER the fast food addiction?

What’s Today? Tar Sands Day! — Surround the White House. Stop the Pipeline!

click logo to visit Tar Sands Action

It’s November 6, 2011 aka  Surround the White House Day to Stop the Keystone XL Pipeline from the Tar Sands. Join the people circling the White House today at 2pm ET by sending a message to President Obama. Apparently our public comments have been LOST. Yep, they’re MIA. Now that’s audacity on the part of whomever “lost” the public’s comments.  So don’t wait, use the nifty form on the Tar Sands Action site, call (202) 456-1111, or fax 202456-2461 to lend your voice to this protest of environmental destruction.

Will the mainstream media cover this event? Let’s not hold our breath considering the blackout of Oakland’s General Strike and the march of THOUSANDS of people who shut down the port on Nov. 2. If mainstream media has th gall to ignore that massive turnout they’ve definitely got no problem ignoring this Tar Sands Protest today.

The Indigenous Environmental Network offers great information on the Tar Sands, the pipelines and Indigenous work to save Mother Earth.  Connect with their network today.  November is Native American Heritage Month and Earth is common ground for all of us. Discover your place in the web of life.
