Tim DeChristopher on ‘the economy’–a new spin on following the money:

What do you value?

Make a list of what matters to you and why.

Tim DeChristopher–Big Brother is watching. So are we.

While I’m not quite up to snuff yet in regard to my blogcasa, recent developments regarding Bidder 70 demand a posting because the one thing Big Brother wishes for is Silence and Acceptance of the “way things are and have been” in order to maintain the same for the future no matter how unsustainable that truly is.

Bidder70 website http://www.bidder70.org/

If you are in the dark regarding how the American judicial system is a tool of those willing to destroy the Earth for personal wealth and power then it’s time to learn what Tim DeChristopher aka Bidder 70 did and why he went to prison. Keywords: illegal, auction, land, gas, oil, leases, Utah, felony, protest.

According to Peaceful Uprising site information, DeChristopher is now in a halfway house in Utah where he remains a federal inmate.  But it’s just a matter of time before Tim DeChristopher rushes the field again.  Have no doubt that Big Brother will be keeping a very close watch on Mr. DeChristopher.  I suggest we all keep a close eye on Bidder 70–and make sure Big Brother knows we are watching Big Brother right back.

Peaceful Uprising resources http://www.peacefuluprising.org/

Not inclined to surf the links? Okay-here’s the easy read: Tim DeChristopher committed the godawful crime of participating in an illegal auction of public lands in order to prevent said lands from being illegally purchased by oil and gas companies. The US Government has acknowledged that the land auction was illegal but no one else other than DeChristopher has been charged or convicted of any wrong doing. Only the man creatively protesting the illegal auction was charged, convicted and sent to prison. Apparently Big Brother just wanted DeChristopher to shut up. Bidder 70 did not shut up. So they sent him to the pokey.

Are we having fun yet?

Why does a US congressman have access to Tim DeChristopher’s emails? Who really wants Bidder 70 in solitary confinement? Why?

It’s been a strange morning here where spring has apparently sprung right into summer: herons nesting in residential area, magnolia blooms come and gone, rose bushes budding and balmy warm winds.  It seems things are just a wee bit out of sync in the natural scheme of things.  But one early morning email made it even stranger because of the news it carried regarding environmental activist Tim DeChristopher being placed in solitary confinement via the demand of an unidentifed US congressman.  Apparently one of DeChristopher’s emails disturbed the mental health of some congressman because of content regarding some financial matters discussed regarding a contributor to his own legal fund.  Now why does a US congressman get to request the solitary confinement of a political prisoner in a minimum security prison based on the content of their email concerning the business practices of a contributor to his defence fund?  Why has this elected US congressman remained unidentified? Who is this person? What right do they have to dictate the practices of a prison in California regarding a low risk prisoner? Why does Tim DeChristopher’s concerns about who funds his legal defence concern any US congressman?  Who gave any congressman the right to wield political influence in such a manner? Whose money is behind this harassment of DeChristopher? What is the incognito congressperson soo threatened by in Tim DeChristopher’s email? Personally I have no specific answers. But–as this seems to center on a discussion of business practices, values, a legal defence and the only thing respected in the USA aka MONEY– my imagination is having a free-for-all this morning with this news.  Btw, this little chess move on the prison political game board was covered by Democracy Now! in headlines for March 28, 2012. I suspect the alternative press  may begin racketballing the item as soon as they get their heads out of their symbolic hoodies over the senseless murder of young Trayvon Martin in Florida.
Now, since I’ve been following Tim DeChristopher’s journey ever since learning about his gig as Bidder 70 at an illegal land auction of oil and gas leases—wait–there’s that special special word ‘oil’–oops—yes, DeChristopher upset the oil carts of some oil people by throwing a monkey wrench in their plans to acquire public lands on the cheap during an illegal federal auction. Do I really need to write anything more? Hmm? Do I?

Yes I do. I need to share the request of Peaceful Uprising asking for support for Tim DeChristopher to be removed from solitary confinement.  What is going on in America?  For more information about Tim DeChrisptopher aka Bidder 70 http://www.peacefuluprising.org/tim-dechristopher

President Obama is earnestly ignoring number 9 on Jeff Goodell’s Rolling Stone list of “10 things to do for the environment”–“pardon Tim DeChristopher.”

Apparently putting Tim DeChrisptoher in prison for protecting America’s environment from illegal oil development leases is not enough for some people. They want in him in solitary confinement to further restrict his communication with the rest of the world beyond Herlong Prison. Why?

Oh the tea kettle is whistling–time for a chat with George Orwell.

The following is copied directly from Peaceful Uprising:

In response to Tim’s transfer into isolated confinement, we’re asking you to please take a few moments to call the following contacts (or whomever you have time to call from this list) and ask that:

“Tim DeChristopher inmate #16156-081 be immediately removed from the Special Housing Unit (SHU) and placed back in the Minimum Security Camp at FCI Herlong.”

If you’d like to say more, here are a few key talking points we suggest:

  • Moving Tim DeChristopher to SHU based on the complaint of an unidentified Congressman doesn’t make sense. Why is Congress intervening in one inmates detention status, anyway?
  • Keeping inmates in isolated confinement for an indefinite amount of time awaiting a hearing is not humane and is not acceptable.
  • *FOR CONGRESSIONAL MEMBERS* If they are your congressperson, tell them about the situation, [read here] and ask them if they know who ordered the transfer, and that you’d like them to take a look into it and get back to you promptly. Ask them why Congress is taking such an interest in the emails of one inmate. Tell them that Tim is a nonviolent offender who was wrongly charged and convicted to begin with, and was placed in a minimum security camp because he posed no threat to anyone. If you have time, mention that an oil and gas company owned by William Koch was recently found to have conspired to defeat a BLM oil and gas lease auction, but was merely fined, while Tim sits in isolated confinement after being charged with two felonies. If you call Jason Chaffetz, ask him to launch an investigation in his oversight committee.

Ustream, Livestream, We All Stream! Real Raw Media Direct From the Streets. The New News is at your fingertips.

If you’re wondering what the ongoing “occupy” movement is doing and have noticed that mainstream media news isn’t clearing up any confusion but adding to it instead, don’t despair. There is a cure–it’s the news coming direct and live from the streets of America, London, Greece, Ireland, Canada and around the world. This is not objective, nice or neatly packaged media footage that has been edited to fit a television time slot. It’s real-time with real people dealing with real issues. There are no professional talking heads in this new news media. But there is often plenty of talk to be had–good, bad and ugly all swirling together in a stew of information unlike anything on your television.  The people who bring this news online are not suited or hairbrushed fashion plates.  Personal imagery is not their priority.  Catching the action and information as it comes down the pipe is their goal. No one is paid. These are volunteer journalists from the grassroots.  It’s not all 24/7. It’s not pretty. It’s not spin. It’s just what’s happening folks. Often it’s downright messy. Sometimes the police get violent.

Here a few of those who stream news from the concrete streets. This is only a sampling of the folks out there using their phones, laptops and cameras who contribute to the new news evolving right now:

Tim Pool of “we are the other 99%” tirelessly follows the occupy action on the streets of New York City.  Appreciative local NYC viewers bring him umbrellas, gloves, food and coffee while he is on a streaming mission with occupy wall street actions. Pool is cool-headed, gives good commentary, has a great eye for the scene and seems to have the endurance of a marathon runner.

http://www.ustream.tv/theother99

On the west coast Spencer Mills aka OakFoSho has been covering the occupy action in Oakland. During his recent stream from LA he shared his decision to quit his job in order to try to cover as much of the west coast occupy movement action on the coast as possible. OakFoSho makes no apologies for his NON violent stance or bias.  He seems to have a penchant for chatting up the police whenever possible. One might wish he’d keep a safer distance from the riot gears at times. He has brand spanking new site compliments of a friends web effort at

http://www.oakfosho.com/

Oakland is also livestreamed at  http://www.livestream.com/occupyoakland by the one and only Jahrastafari and/or legind. And OakFoSho’s ustream is also featured.  Most Occupy locations have their own media livestream crews: Seattle, Toronto, NYC, Portland, Nashville, London, Auckland, Los Angeles et al.  And each one has its very own flavor. This is real diversity in media.

On the morning of Oakland’s first raid in Oscar Grant Plaza the ONLY news coverage of any kind came from Punkboy streaming via his phone.  His efforts got him into the press conference held that day where even the mainstream press tried to ask hard questions like “How is Oakland going to pay for all this police action?” The reply was less than adequate. Those of us who watched that morning thank Officer Bolton for finding Punkboy on the street outside city hall and getting him into the not open to the general public press conference.

In Dublin, Ireland currently one man, Irelandseyes,  does marathon livestreams from Dame Street. From the Occupy camp that kettles the Central Bank come scenes of the street, marches, music, and endless talk of the Irish.  So far the gardra and local businesses have been very good to Occupy Dame Street.  Even the security garda in the 24/7 McDonalds, Moses, has been willing to greet the livestream chatters while Irelandseyes “recharges.” Other Irish occupy camps are in the process of setting up livestreams and ustreams: Cork, Waterford, Galway, Tipperary.

Athens Greece there is the ever energetic voice of multilingual George and his cohorts of StopCarteltv-Gr. When the streets Athens were full of protestors and tear gas, the StopCarteltv crew was in the midst of it all, including the tear gas.  They also covered the protest occupation of Greece’s Electric Company when the government told the company to start collecting a new surcharge tax.  Their coverage is ongoing and ever evolving on issues. Also, George will get to English at some point in his commentary  at    http://www.livestream.com/stopcarteltvgr

Wild Irish Poet Calling

Greetings, all cyber surfers. The speech video posted here came to my attention while visiting Occupy Dame Street in Dublin, Ireland on its first day of streaming live for a few hours.  If you’ve wandered into the various chatstreams arising for the spreading occupy movement then you’ve probably experienced everything from total madhouse chaos of Occupy Wall Street in New York City to relatively coherent discussion of issues in Los Angeles–at times.  Pure chance led me to Dublin’s livestream debut and its sublimity. Yes, sublimity of experiencing the positive actualization of what the internet can do for bridging the literal physical distance between people and places.  People were watching and listening online the very serious and informed discussions of those occupying Dame Street across from the Central Bank in Dublin, Ireland. We watched, listened and conversed.  There was discussion and communication in English and Gaelic. It was grand. After the livestream went down to cool the computer on the ground and recharge its batteries the conversation continued. It was sweet, heady stuff. Not because of the political exchange, but because of the reaching out and sharing and learning and connecting.  All the things nearly impossible in the now often free for all textual brawling, trolling and raving in the Occupy Wall Street chatstream.  This video shared by the wildirishpoet is a tiny part of that wonderful conscious inter-connecting. It exemplifies something important for Ireland that can be extrapolated to the rest of humanity–to manifest the sublime we’re capable of actualizing.

It’s been interesting to watch this “movement” of occupation from its inception in New York City with Occupy Wall Street.  At the start it was impossible to find any coverage of the event and now, well, now even Fox News is covering OWS as best it can–with the usual suspect results of course. Still it’s telling that even right wingers are increasingly aware of  the occupy movement. It’s clear some have no comprehension of the fundamental issues that are bringing people into the streets to voice discontent. The lack of understanding is a sign of what’s gone so very wrong in this culture and others. When one part of the population doesn’t really comprehend what’s got people riled up to civil disobedience then there’s a serious problem with seeing reality.  It’s still easy for many to remain comfortable and cozy in their havens of home and work.  But I sense that comfort will not last much longer. Chris Hedges recently penned a piece titled “Why the elites are in trouble.”  Hedges hits the target right on mark. The occupation will continue until real change occurs.  But what Hedges does not contemplate–at least not yet to my knowledge–is just what bringing about real positive change will entail in the long run.  The One Percent and their minions may be aware and may have passed the stage of ridiculing the movement indeed–but they are nowhere near capitulating to its demands. Why should they–yet? When they have many tools of FORCE at their beck and call via the carrot of money to blow.  I suspect the honeymoon period is about over for the Occupy Movement. The newness and novelty are fast fading.  Roots have dug in and are spreading.  Now real work is beginning–the work of awaking the rest of the population, the work of having to really deal with the power of the One Percent who will NOT “go quietly into that dark night”.  This shifting of consciousness has no clear ending in sight. No one really knows just where it will lead. Oh there is all the hope for a better world for everyone. The thing is how will we get to that promised land of loving compassion for all? There are still the dark dark woods to venture through. And the history of human nature so far shows that’s not an easy journey.  This is about more than just creating jobs that give everyone a living wage and enough disposable income to feed the consumer addiction.  This shift in values, perspective and relating goes far beyond that and what shape(s) may eventually manifest is anyone’s guess.  Oh and for those thinking this will fade and go the way of the peace movement of the 60s, I say think again. This is an awakening that knows no bounds. When the mind is free from illusions then there are no limits, no  boundaries and no constraints. People often cite the Rule of Law. Well The Law is a human construct. It’s clear our current Rule of Law is fatally flawed. It does not serve the people. It serves the interests of the One Percent. Only the Laws of Nature are pure and uncorrupted by human meddling. The Laws of Nature are perfect and complex. Nature’s Law trumps human created Rule of Law because it cannot be corrupted by avarice, ego or blackmail.  For humans there are laws beyond Legal Law. At the risk of sounding offhandedly simplistic I’ll call these the “laws of doing the right things” for the “right reasons.”   We want to protect the Earth because it’s our only home and it’s a Wonderful Home. We don’t have a planet to migrate to so we need to clean this one up if we wish to continue as a species.  We reach out and help others because it’s what caring humans do. Some, like Tim DeChristopher, defy the human construct of Rule of Law to do the right thing–and do it without regret or remorse because they know they’re doing what needs to be done on the most fundamental levels of understanding and awareness.

The Rule of Law serves the One Percent, it’s just one tool they will use in every way they can because they enjoy being the One Percent Feudal Lords  and they don’t want their luxury boats rocked by any uprising serfs.  The One Percent has not yet begun to fight back. They will. It won’t be a pretty sight. They will not cede power and bow out gracefully. That’s not their style as evidenced by how they’ve become the One Percent  This revolution will not be won by millions of keys shaken in the streets per the Czech’s Velvet Revolution. It’s going to be won one heart and mind at a time. And that’s damn hard work.  Get ready for the long haul because once awake no one goes back to sleep.  This street only goes one way–forward. To where? How long? Creating what?

Imagine the possibilities.

What kind of world do you want to live in?

I imagine a world where no one goes without the necessities of life because of someone else’s greed; where quality education is free for everyone; where everyone gets the healthcare they need; where there is no war, where Mother Earth is loved and respected; where everyone can live a live worth living–and that’s just for starters.

What’s June 23rd? Solidarity Day with Tim DeChristopher.

"tempting infinity" @ eva wojcik

Love our Earth? Enjoy the great outdoors? Want a sustainable future for everyone? Then join Peaceful Uprising, myself and others to share solidarity with Tim DeChrisptohper AKA Bidder 70, on June 23, 2011.  Peaceful Uprising currently has 39 events scheduled where folks are planning on going to their federal courthouse to display an orange solidarity banner and taking photos of it.  I realize not everyone has the opportunity to engage in this visual show of solidarity for DeChristopher who faces imprisonment for taking action to save public lands during an illegal land auction. What did he do? He bid on the lands and then made arrangements to purchase them to save them from illegal gas and oil development.  While Tim faces imprisonment for his actions the people who arranged the illegal land auction face NO accountability for the illegal auction.  DeChristpoher’s motive for his actions was not allowed to be part of his defence.  Now isn’t that odd—the legal system doesn’t care why Tim DeChristopher picked up an auction paddle and became Bidder 70.  But the system is apparently quite angry that he did anything to foil an illegal auction that oil and gas companies would have benefitted from.  Do we smell fracking here? Hmm? Surely not!  The legal system is so ticked off it has delayed sentencing DeChrisptopher yet again! Apparently it got wind of the planned solidarity rally in Utah and decided to keep things “quiet” in order to not attract media coverage. Well, I seriously doubt there will be much media coverage on June 23. Hey, the mainstream press IGNORED the protests in Wisconsin for as long as possible. It knew of and ignored the War Protests in front of the White House where 144 people were arrested.  Corporate media wants no part of people speaking truth to power as DeChristopher has done. So, it’s up to me–and you as the audience–you’re here reading, right?–to do the media’s job and spread the word about Tim DeChristopher as Bidder 70. Information is knowledge. Knowledge is power. Get informed. Get empowered. Empower others. Share solidarity on June 23 by spreading the news! Visit Peaceful Uprising  to learn about the actions, trial, sentencing and events. There’s even a rally location map online.  It’s just for the USA. Why don’t we make it GLOBAL?  Get informed then decide for yourself to tweet/blog/text/facebook –or not– in Solidarity with DeChristopher on June 23.  It’s about YOUR future too.

Not ready to become extinct? Save Earth, Demand Oceans Without Oil and Clean Energy ASAP.

Earth Day approaches. What does that mean in the United States? Nothing as far as I can tell at this point in time. We are doing absolutely nothing to deal with climate change.  We’re doing almost nothing to protect the natural world we live in. Many are still in denial thanks to the misinformation efforts of the likes of the nefarious Koch Brothers—and their more invisible cohorts.  Think confronting climate change is overwhelming? Then consider the extinction of humans as a result of our own actions.

"Holy Water" @ eva wojcik

It’s been one year since BP’s destruction of the Gulf of Mexico environment commenced.  Dolphins, fish, turtles and people continue to sicken and die.  The oil and chemicals used to make it invisible continue to destroy the viability of the water environment. BP continues to do as it pleases and spins its image as best it can. Oil companies posted record PROFITS. Who gave them this profit money? We did. We do every time we purchase gasoline.

What can each of us do? We can demand clean energy. We can change our own individual lifestyles regarding our energy. Use less oil. Use less gasoline. Conserve, use public transportation, walk, ride bikes instead of buying more SUVs. Oh yes, I see gas guzzlers every time I venture outside. A lot of people clearly don’t give a damn as long as they’ve got the money for gas at the pump. Get informed, get educated about the need for a healthy Earth for every living thing.

Our government clearly does not give a damn about the Earth. Corporations clearly do not take any responsibility for their polluting actions that destroy the environment.

Do we care? Do we?

I do not want any offshore drilling here.

"touching" @ eva wojcik

It’s time to think of doing things other than “Drill, baby, drill.” It’s time to CHANGE—and we’ve got to do it. No one else will. Follow Tim DeChristopher’s example and don’t wait for someone else to appear and lead. No one is coming. It’s up to us. Every single one of us, because we all live on the same Earth.  It’s time to take responsibility any and every way we each  can. It’s time to confront the reality of the destruction of our environment no matter how much it “hurts.” Adapt, change, transform or die.  Earth’s day is every day.

Bidder 70 Single-handedly Foiled Gas & Oil Exploitation in Utah–Thank you, Tim DeChristopher.

In a very real sense Bidder 70,  Tim DeChristopher, has been found guilty of a lack of premeditation in regard to his effort to save public lands in Utah from gas and oil company exploitation via illegal land sales.  Yes, illegal even according to Interior Secretary Salazar.  Having watched way too much crime drama on the idiot box, I find it strange that a judge would not allow DeChristophers’s MOTIVE for his actions be part of his defense. What was Tim DeChristopher’s motive? To save public lands from illegal land sales to gas and oil companies.  Huh, and that’s a ‘bad’ thing? It’s a motive the judge clearly didn’t want spread about in the media. Such a motive might give people ideas, raise some serious questions, and might incite a huge public uproar? If you haven’t heard of Bidder 70, ask yourself why not? Seriously–ask why information about Tim DeChristopher’s spontaneous action in 2008 has not reached your over stimulated eyes and ears.  Believe me, Obama and friends are very well aware of DeChristopher and his rescue of public land from the shady fun and games of the Bush playbook. Why isn’t all of America debating the issues that Bidder 70’s Trial raise? Why aren’t we all talking about a young man who has NO regrets for doing what he did and is willing to pay the legal price because he knows he did what needed to be done? Why aren’t we all questioning how our public lands are under threat by companies which are responsible for the destruction of our environment–the very environment that supports our ability to LIVE? Guess what America, it’s illegal to engage in ethical, moral, just action to save the Earth.  Would you do what Tim DeChristopher did when he entered that auction and began bidding? Interesting to also note that the judge would NOT allow the fact that DeChristopher actually raised the money to buy the lands he bid on to be part of his legal defence. Yes, Bidder 70 actually was going to play the rules of the game and PAY for the lands he won through bidding at an auction. But the jury was not allowed to know this information.  What’s that tell you?
