Mad-City Parent Steams about Walker in the land of Koch aka Wisconsin.

Well I could rant on about whatever the hell happened in Wisconsin yesterday regading the Recall Gov. Scott Walker effort. But I won’t. I think it’s much more appropriate to guest post the thoughts of a friend who resides in the state and worked hard for the effort.  Without further ado:

A Madison Resident steams in Mad-City:

Short answer:  Walker held on by outspending Barrett on tv ads by a margin of between seven and ten to one.  The ads were either a) the indisputable fact–and not campaign hyperbole–is that we saved Wisconsin by balancing the budget or b) Tom Barrett has turned Milwaukee into a hell on earth, as evidenced by this photo of a dead baby that Barrett is responsible for in some vague, non-actionable way.  Walker also got some cushioning from people who don’t personally like him but who are offended by the concept of the recall.  And finally, I think, despite the demonstrably crappy job he’s done as governor, Walker is still powered by an undercurrent of up-state envy, people who hate Madison liberals for being more affluent and educated and therefore more smug than they are.

Honestly, I don’t know who the hell Walker’s supporters are.  I really can’t fathom this.  He is as close to a mustache twirling villain as I’ve ever seen in Wisconsin politics, a demagogic bully who is willing to do anything to further his political aspirations, and who doesn’t care who he stomps on to do it.  As near as I can figure, I guess, is that his supporters are people, suburbanists especially,  who are afraid of losing their stuff and who are willing to let budget cuts fall on everyone else in order for them to maintain the subsidized lifestyle they somehow deserve.  And Walker understands that, and promises he’s the only one standing between them and the special interests, the bogeyman union bosses, who want to make them pay for incompetent, indoctrinating teachers they can’t fire and make them sit next to other people on crowded non-high speed trains, trolleys really, because they want to put the earth’s needs above people’s.

So, shorter answer:  Walker won because we live in uncertain times and he shows no uncertainty.

The worst part now is how smug Walker is going to be as he rolls out his next legislative session using the failed recall as a cudgel.  Of course, before that, we will be treated to Walker lapping up national attention as the new-flavor-of-the-month frontrunner in the VP sweepstakes, coyly declining consideration, finally, in the interests of running the state.  Which is to say that VP consideration for Walker will continue up to the point the Romney team does its background check and discovers just how dirty Walker is.  Walker’s lawyers spent the past six weeks before the election trying to get letters from both the Feds and the Milwaukee County DA’s office declaring that Walker wasn’t the target of an investigation–either when he was Milwaukee County Exec or sitting as governor–and they couldn’t get them.  Thirteen people around Walker have now been given immunity, so something’s coming down the pike.

Which points to what I hate most about Walker:  this may sound quaint but what I really can’t stomach is that he has no sense of fair play.  The whole John Doe investigation centers around his using his office for campaigning, for using the levers of power to help himself.  Ever since he got elected he has been working tirelessly to tilt the playing field for his own benefit.  He’s called special sessions to get around legislative rules and when that wasn’t enough he broke laws to muscle his bill through.  His legislators on redistricting met in secret and then passed a bill so gerrymandered that the courts struck parts of it down.  he passed a voter ID law to disenfranchise as many Democrats as possible.  And, of course, his whole emergency budget bill was less about a budget crisis and more about cutting off political opponents at the knees.  And all the while he crows hypocritically and piously (I can’t count the number of times he’s mentioned that he’s the son of a minister) about how hard he is working for Wisconsin, again, standing up against the special interests.  Every time he parrots that line I want to throw something at him, because how much more special an interest can you get than the Koch Brothers.

In other words, this one really hurt.  I put in a lot of get out the vote work, and I started letting myself get hopeful.  And now I don’t know anything anymore.

But thanks for letting me vent.  That actually made me feel better.

Wow, it’s been busy here–traffic in one door and out the other from the looks of the tracks left by visitors to blogcasa. Welcome folks, newcomers and regulars. Yes, Al, that includes you too,  river blog artist.  Quick by the way, yes, I do have the best of intentions to return the favors of visitors who have left tracks and to do something about a couple of networking blog awards–which always seem to present when moi is most distracted by things outside of blogland. No slights intended to Jingle or eva626.  Hopefully I do all things by rights and create some webby connections for you both.  Meanwhile, I hope you all enjoy “leaves and stones” from my falling in love with my Minolta x 700 collection.  If you’re stateside, all the best hoped for with all things taxed, taxing and taxable–unless you’re GE of course. Why should any corporation pay federal taxes, right? Oh I don’t know, maybe to contribute THEIR fair share to the collective potluck? Then again, corporate personhoods are more special than that rest of us persons. Afterall, they’re not really persons at all except in legalese.  Hey, maybe that’s the tax-free ticket for the rest of us–declare ourselves “corporate persons” so that we too will be tax-free. Wonder how long any government will continue functioning or even be-ing once that happens. Hmm?
Okay, well, must run off elsewhere besides aqui para uno tiempo. Everyone play nice. Oh and all the best to the ongoing recall efforts in Wisconsin. Four down and four to go.  Recalls to keep everyone busy and focused until they can beam Scotty up and out.  Ain’t he lucky those Wisconsinites aren’t inclined towards French historical activities?

The Ultimate Weapon–Our Wallets.

The time has come to wage war with our wallets as weapons. Yes folks, the only thing that any political entity in the USA has any respect for is money. The profit margin is the battleground for the unfolding economic-social-political class war.  Since money is what has been making the world go round according to the agendas of the corporate elite, then money can stop their greedy worlds from going round.  We are going to have to become very well-informed about who owns, manufactures, and sells everything we purchase so that we gain some control of how our money is used.  The growing efforts in Wisconsin for waging this sort of wallet warfare may provide everyone with a beginning playbook for what needs to be done in order for us to have a say in how we live and work. This goes beyond voting whenever there is an election. This involves how we live and work and play every day of our lives.  Every choice we make with our wallets becomes a vote, a political action. Here in lies a form of great collective power based upon informed choices every day. It will require mindfulness, will power and unity to be effective. Take note, there are more of “us” than there are of “them” aka the rich corporate elite.  We have the strength of numbers. Now, the question is, do we have the strength of conviction to act for the long-term? Our actions will impact our children’s lives, the environment, and the state of the rest of the world.

Money Talk @ "Concerned Madison Parent" 2011

Red Alert All “Serfs”: Corporate hostile take-over of America is underway via Republican Governors at large.

It’s official folks. The corporate take-over of America is well underway around the USA. Oh yeah. No doubts about it. Just survey what every Republican Governor is up to in every state and it’s absolutely clear that this is an organized attack on the working classes en masse. The goal is absolute control, dominance and power over the population. Does that sound paranoid? Yeah, well it’s reality, fellow serfs.  You think Wisconsin has ISSUES? Well, while we’ve all been watching the antics of Republican Dictator Walker and his hench-people, especially the extremely adorably arrogant Senator Fitzgerald, a very nasty power grab has been conducted in Lansing, Michigan. Oh yeah, what’s worse than snidely cutting the feet out from the working class by stripping them of collective bargaining rights? Float this in your boiling brainpan:

In an extreme move to take away power of local governments, the Michigan Senate voted yesterday to allow the appointment of so-called emergency financial managers to take control of cities and school districts that the newly elected Republican governor in the state unilaterally declares to be “financial emergencies.”

The new bill was passed 26-12 by the Republican-controlled Senate in Lansing and allows newly-appointed financial managers a broad range of powers over local governments. Newly elected Republican Governor Rick Snyder’s new budget bill slashes aid to local governments and many towns are expected to fall into the financial emergency zone as a result. Governor Snyder will then appoint financial managers to oversee these towns.

The bill was passed first in Michigan’s Congress and will now await some changes in wording before being sent to Snyder’s desk for his signature. After the bill is put in effect, the financial managers will be allowed to “reject, modify or terminate the terms of an existing contract…or a collective bargaining agreement.”

They will also be able to “suspend or dismiss local officials, “disincorporate of dissolve entire city governments” and “recommend…that a school district be reorganized with one or more contiguous districts.” Jennifer Page, “Corporate Politicians at Helm”,  The Center for Media and Democracy’s PRwatch

http://www.prwatch.org/news/2011/03/10330/corporate-politicians-helm-michigan-sell-out-local-democracy

Michigan’s Governor is a Republican and by now we all know what that means—right wing Koch Brothers and Cohorts MONEY puppet.  Now that Snyder has established his right to slash and burn cities and school districts all by himself –and then to appoint “new managers”–the door is open for Koch and like-minded right-wing Corporate Cohorts for more “hostile take-overs” of cities and schools. Why bother with purchasing individual energy works when you can bleed an entire city and its population to suit your own agenda?

What are we Serfs going to do?

Whatever happened to self-determination in America?

Is this still “America”–land of the FREE? Is it?

The rules have changed folks. In case you haven’t noticed, these Republicans don’t adhere to laws, fair play or honesty. They don’t give a damn about working class people of any ilk. In Wisconsin they have abandoned all pretense of integrity. They’re not elected officials anymore. They’re arrogant, power hungry, control monsters bent on imposing their way–as the only way in much the same vein as the most repulsive manipulative television evangelists.  The right-wing corporate Republican way is The Only Way. I sense that “loving kindness” will not get us Serfs anywhere with these people because such is out of their ken. They’re proving it with every move they make. If the Republicans in Wisconsin are so proud of their handiwork, why do they run away from the capital escorted by police, through tunnels and unto dark buses to avoid the wrath of the people they’re supposed to REPRESENT? Do they fear a modern form of being tarred and feathered? Why do they keep trying to keep their handiwork from public view?  Because they know it’s “wrong” yet they intend to do as their corporate funders demand any way they can.

Note: For those of you who don’t understand what unions and collective bargaining rights mean for working classes–do some homework–start with the Ludlow Massacre and learn about those and other people who died in order for there to be a 40 hour work week, no child labor, and decent living wages. Yes, people fought and died in order to end ruthless exploitation by the rich elite who took everything and gave nothing for the labor of others.  Corporate created textbooks don’t present much information on the dark side of the labor movement. Explore America’s dark labor history before you decide unions don’t matter.

WI Senate Republicans on a wild rumpus to manipulate and abuse Democrats.

The Grand Old Party in Wisconsin is probably sending a dear old dead WI Republican friend of mine screaming in disbelief in his grave. Even before his death he said he couldn’t recognize the current ideology of the GOP. He didn’t know for sure where his own political thinking placed him any longer. He’d been something beyond what would be currently considered a progessive Republican–a mentality that no longer exists within the Republican party from what I can tell. How far beyond? He was a Republican who wanted to work for the ACLU.  Wisconsin Republicans have sunk soooo low as to deny Democratic staff access to the copy machines in the capital building.  Furthermore, they’ve voted to fine the 14 Democratic Senators taking a stand against their callous efforts to utterly destroy the working class and the educational system throughout the entire state. Yes, it’s going to cost the absent Democrats $100 a day for every day they’re  absent without leave. And they’re to pay the “cost” of whatever it takes to bring them “back.” No word on if this applies to  any Republicans who don’t show up for “work.”   Furthermore, the oh so law minded Republican Gov. Scott “Koch Tool” Walker continues to DEFY a court order to OPEN the capital building to the public–as  is the LAW.

No wonder Walker approved the recent appointment of Stephen Fitzgerald to the head of State Police.  apparently he senses a need for protection of his ass-ets.

Why do right winging Republicans so hate the working class and so love corporate billionaires? Is doing the bidding of their corporate masters a way to vicariously live the life of the elite rich by association? Professional articles  have been written about the psychology of the far right, tea party folks and extreme conservatives. They desire complete authority, control and domination of their peers. They lack empathy. They adhere to “right father” mentality. They have no regard for the consequences of their actions–especially if they do not suffer the consequences.  WI Republicans seem to be  fitting the profile so far. I think I will peruse those articles further. Never know what else might be discovered. A tool or two perhaps?

Btw, if you’ve been considering placing your bids for Wisconsins energy-works, better do it in writing because the phone is not being answered at the Gov.’s office.

UPDATE:  Want to know who had easy access to the capital building? PR Watch says they’re very well heeled –>

Catch this Koch “capital gains” tax gift direct from Walker.

More  budget creating chaos from Dictator Republican Gov. Scott Walker as he strives to destroy the economy of the state of Wisconsin in order to do the bidding of his right-wing corporate masters David and Charles Koch. Walker’s plan is to CUT tax revenue and blame the shortfall on all public workers. He’s declared outright war on the entire education system in Wisconsin from elementary to the university system.

Among all the tax cuts and budget cuts and service cuts in Republican Gov. Scott “Koch tool” Walker  there’s this gem:

“Walker asked for 82 million dollars in tax cuts, including an expansion exclusion for capital gains realized on investments made in Wisconsin based businesses.

Who will benefit from this capital gains exclusion? KOCH, of course. They wallow in their record profits after getting their greedy corporate claws into Wisconsin’s currently public energy works after they’re put up for sale by Walker’s REPAIR Bill.

The Legislature previously approved more and 117 million dollars in Walker backed tax cuts that take effect later this year.”

Yesterday  REPUBLICAN Gov. Scott Walker defied a court order to open the capital building. Clearly he believes he is above the law. Clearly he has no stomach for the people he is supposed to “represent” and whom do not agree with his Koch cooked agenda.

AP Philip Elliot offers this quote from Obama:

“The thing about governors is that you’re in charge and people know where to find you, and they expect you to help them in tough times.”

If you’re a teacher  and Republican Gov. Scott Walker is your governor you don’t need help, you need protection–including the restraining order taken out to allow access to your capital building.

According to Democracy Now!’s report Tuesday, March 1st, the police chief walked off the job at the Madison capital saying, “I am not a palace guard.”

REPUBLICAN Governor Scott Walker:  a Man who CREATES TOUGH TIMES for the working classes in order to  increase the profits  for private corporations investing in Wisconsin.

Want some WI Energy? Contact Gov. Scott Walker to make a deal.

Consider this a public service announcement. According to the Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s website “Wisconsin is Open for Business.”  Now it’s not clear exactly whose business or what sort of business, but judging from the information in Walker’s Budget Bill there will be an opportunity to purchase Wisconsin Energy operations via Uncontested Bids. Now if you’re interested  in getting your hands on some gas and electric providers in Wisconsin you’re going to have to run fast to beat the Koch Lobbyists to this governor’s sale.

Ready to place your “bid” for energy in Wisconsin?

Walker Repairs WI Budget: Old Fitzgerald gets $105,000 + $90,000 pension while Gov. threatens layoff of WI teachers.

Stephen Fitzgerald has been appointed head of Wisconsin’s State Police to the salary tune of $105,000 complete with a pension of $90,000. Stephen Fitzgerald is no spring chicken. He  is near retirement age so he will be drawing that pension SOON.  Take note that Stephen Fitzgerald has two sons in the state capital: Republican Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald AND Republican Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald.  Looks like good old pop Fitzgerald will be well off in his golden years thanks to his political connections. One Fitzgerald, two Fitzgerald, three Fitzgeralds all telling public workers to bite the dust regarding their pensions. Are there more Fitzgeralds soon to grace Wisconsin’s power players? Hmm? Any more Fitzgeralds catching golden rising stars soon?

One Fitz, two Fitz, three Fitz..more?! Is this an example of Republican family planning? Oh my, now there’s a dirty phrase for such guys–“family planning”–perish the thought!!! This is more like family values, right?

I have more to say on the scenario involving the situation in WI involving the Koch puppet Republican Gov. Walker, but I think I’ll let this political money bag play sink into your busy brainpans first. Got it? Walker has no money for public workers but pension funds aplenty for Fitzgerald Senior.  Perhaps this just shows how much Walker wants the protestors to go away and be SILENT. He’s not going to budge, but they damn  well ought to and he wants the WI State Police to “MAKE IT SO” for Scotty, Jeff and Scott.

More  DN! coverage of WI Saturday protests at www.democracynow.org    I thought I was just having a tough “Google” day on Saturday, but no, it wasn’t me. There was NO mainstream media coverage of over 100,000 people protesting in Madison. Reuters had coverage. But that doesn’t count because they’re not AMERICAN media.  Btw, NO TEA PARTY counter protestors put in an appearance on Saturday. Actually, according to my sources, the Tea Party seems to have evaporated since answering Walker’s first kettle whistle.

Oh IF it was me having a bad “Google” day, please do leave links to the news coverage of Saturday’s good times in Mad-City. Thank you!

Attention FOX News! Gov. Walker killed 800 million dollars for Wisconsin light rail for Koch oil??? Dig FOX! Dig! The information gold is everywhere for your finding.

Is this a communist public workers’ plot? Sorry FOX News, it’s not. Wisconsin Rep. Gov. Scott Walker killed  800 million dollars in federal funding for high speed light rail in order to focus on “roads.”  Yes, the Governor of Wisconsin declined $ 800 MILLION for a public transportation project in Wisconsin for “roads.” What uses roads? Cars. What do cars use for fuel? Gasoline. Who is heavily invested in oil? Koch Industries.  Mystery solved! Republican Governor Scott Walker declined $800 MILLION of federal funds in order to provide his Koch backers with more “oil” and other energy opportunities.  What a way to connect the dots.

Oh and there was a SURPLUS in the Wisconsin budget UNTIL Walker arrived and pushed through $140 Million in NEW spending for special interest groups. This wiped out the 2009-2011 surplus.  Huh, I wonder where Koch Industries lands in that package.

Here’s another “dot”–the Budget Repair Bill allows for UNcontested bids for purchase of WI public energy works. Who want this juicy energy cash hog? Koch Industries of course. Why else open a brand spanking new office for an army of Koch Lobbyists in Madison?

So did the public workers’ unions create a budget issue in Wisconsin? No–REPUBLICAN Gov. Scott Walker created it all by himself–and apparently he did it for the right wing tea party playing Koch brothers–David and Charles. Still looking forward to a fun time in California with David Koch, Dictator Walker?

Who will save the serfs? Not Walker and certainly not Koch Industries. Hey, Citgo, you amigos down in Venezeuala got some heating fuel for Cheeseheads? Cause I think they’re gonna need it if Wisconsin becomes WisKochLand. Hola Chavez, want to trade some heating oil for cheese?  Go for the Munster…….

Oh folks this is OLD news, it’s everywhere to be found on the web. Connect the dots yourself.

Concerned Madison Parent SNAPS at Saturday Protest

Now that Wisconsin Rep. Gov. Scott Walker has publicly stated that he will not take any “calls” from Wisconsin residents,  ONLY from David Koch–and impersonators thereof–it is clear what he represents and that is The Corporate Big Brotherhood–and its energy investment interests.  In case you’ve missed it in the mainstream news–the Budget Repair Bill would allow UNCONSTESTED bids for selling off public energy works.  What do the Koch Brothers invest in? Oh yeah, ENERGY–for example, oil.  Yeah, I don’t think FOX News is going to be chatting about those connecting dots any time soon–unless that falls under FOX’s idea of a “communist plot”.

All these photographs were shot Saturday 26 February 2011 by that “Concerned Madison Parent” whose vent I recently posted.
