Flash Mobs for Everyone! Let’s Sing and Swing!

Time for true confessions: the reason I picked this “Flash Mob” musical theme is because I got so carried away with willowdot21’s  “All Things Travel” theme that I could not resist continuing travelling around the world.  Blame the choice of Flash Mobs all on the “Ode to Joy” video which I’ve included here because it was the piece that sent me searching for mobs in places of transportation. Yes, you can travel the world via Flash Mobs everywhere. Some of them will even moon you. Yes, indeed, five guys and a fountain where it’s illegal to wade…yeah, I wonder if Bear, Willowdot21 or Johnny have selected that piece of young guy fun?  What I enjoy most about these Mobs are the expressions on those watching and those performing.
Enjoy, be careful with the mob from Moscow. Damn, I wonder what sort of a riot one hot guy with a boombox can incite if he were inclined to do so? LOL.
Imagine all the great music, fun and dancing everyone could be enjoying every day around the world if all the warmongering would just cease and desist. As Tracy Chapman sings: This could be heaven here on Earth.

Willowdot21, Bollywood selections are for you. 🙂

OOPS! What the *&^! ??? OOPS Our Way

OOPS! Another example of inaccurate information from the news source famous for misinformation, misrepresentation and–now-mis-location. OOPS! Who needs social studies classes? Where in the world IS Egypt???? Not “here”…..OOOPS!

Where in the world?

These are serious times, deadly serious times and yet–yet there are moments of sublime humor. Though the degree of sublimity depends upon your own individual subjective  sense of humor. Btw, if anyone is interested, there is a little town called Sublimity in Oregon. Really, I’ve been there. Sublimity has a beautiful park of OLD trees, a post office built in 1890 and a few cemeteries for your touring pleasure. Now back to the main menu:

Oh lordy, lordy, lordy! I first heard about Fox’s inability to find Egypt via KKFI radio–but I thought they were being sarcastic and facetious–until a friend shared the image. I just could not keep it all to myself. Have to share it with everyone else who missed this priceless piece of world news coverage.

Where’s a geography teacher when Fox News desperately needs one? Mapquest anyone? Got a 3D globe? Rand McNally wall map? Hey, they only report “news”, right? What do we expect from journalists? Who needs geographic accuracy? Might be useful for a “smart bomb” programmer—or not. Just send out the drones.

Oh hey, ABC is on the ball–or the “CAN” as in this case.  Yes, if you haven’t had the dubious pleasure of tear gas in person, this is its package. complete with Made in the USA.   Click the can to read more news coverage–American style. OOPS! WE make this stuff? Export it? Our economy needs some  serious greening from the looks of things.

ABC: Made in America

OOPS! And a major OOOOUCH! to everyone enjoying unemployment in America.  What can one billion American dollars buy? Depends on where you’re spending it. It could house a few people made homeless by the ongoing foreclosure crisis.  It  would buy A LOT of propane for folks on the Cheyenne River Reservation in South Dakota –which, btw,  contains  THE POOREST county in the USA–Ziebach. What would you spend a BILLION dollars on? According to Democracy Now! the American government has been “donating” at least a billion dollars a year to the Egyptian government for the last 30 years.  Click on the bundled buckeroos to learn more about this artwork–and view other visual aids.  You can visit Democracy Now! for more about what H. Clinton did and didn’t say about Egypt at http://www.democracynow.org/2011/1/27/egyptian_american_activist_hillary_clinton_forget

Visual Aid: One Billion American Dollars

Come on, don’t be shy–what would you do with a BILLION dollars every year?

Got DJ daydreams? A Blues Affliction Perhaps?

Do you have a serious music addiction? Or know and love someone with such an affliction? You know the type–they consume tunes the way yuppies consume a certain brand of chain coffee. Oh and in Kansas City, we’ve got something for that sort of coffee addict–The Broadway Cafe–the ONLY independent coffee shop to shut down the invading coffee chain and send it packing–a chain which we will not name nor even offer the marketing of a ‘tag’.

Okay back to the music–and the DJ dreamers out there spinning in the world-wide web and beyond.

Yes, folks, only at KKFI Community Radio, located at the corner of 39th and Main in Kansas City, Missouri can you too can be a guest DJ and get a taste of radio-wave action. How? KKFI is entirely community funded and for a donation of one hundred and fifty dollars towards its operating costs, you –or a loved one of your choice– can do a stint on live radio complete with programing the musical selections.  Consider giving such a ‘gift’ of experience to yourself or someone who loves Jazz, Folk, World, Rock, Blues, Reggae and even Native American music et al.  The DJ guest spot must be during a compatible radio program with appropriate music genre. If you click on the blue billboard  you will surf into KKFI’s site and there find a program schedule complete with times  and the regular all volunteer DJ staff listings. There’s also contact, newsletter, and event information available. KKFI 90.1 fm streams LIVE on the world wide web 24/7 , 365 days around the sun and with the moon.  Where else but on totally community radio can a DJ daydream become reality?

Wow, Eric Barr’s Mid-day Medley is blowing me away

KKFI’s Eric Barr is currently sending out amazingly beautiful music from Spain.  Last week’s playlist will give some idea of the breadth and range of the musical tones he’s got in his pocket  http://www.kkfi.org/program.php?id=26&date=07-22-2010

European, Dutch, Reggae, traditional, electronic, fusion and on and on around Europe and anywhere he can go for the universal language of music.

Right now music isn’t more gorgeous! Join me!   http://www.kkfi.org

Indigenous Courage in Peru

Anyone care to predict where the human species needs to go in order to truly save the one and only planet homo sapiens exists on? Well it’s clear that the Indigenous people of Peru have sorted out the answer to the question: Protect the natural environment at all cost. What’s happening in Peru illustrates the basic struggle between corporate greed and ongoing insanity in regard to the rainforests, the lungs of the world, and those who understand this best because their daily lives depend upon the health and well being of the rainforest–Indigenous people living in the forests. Take note that so far mainstream media is keeping far away from covering this unfolding story. But Indian Country Today has it as their top story, Democracy Now put it out on the radio airwaves and those journalists some people tooting  guns like to shoot, Al Jazeera News, has coverage. Surfing the web can pull up even exclusive video on U tube. An Aussie I know informed me that there’s almost no hint of Peru’s issues in the land down under. Another question is how well the Indians armed with spears will fare in the face off against Peru’s Military guns? Indian Country Today’s cartoon put it in stark black and white with a man armed with a knife locked in a struggle with a soldier with a gun, both standing on a black splatch of OIL.
